Go local this summer.

Pin and Tux

The brand: A new collaboration between Sarit “James” Chokchainirand, the second-generation owner of womenswear tailor Supinda boutique, and young designer Natcha “Pong” Kanchanachitra, who use James’s family’s manufacturing facilities to create fashionable ready-to-wear items that retain the quality of traditional tailoring.

The style: The brand focuses on timeless designs that can be used for more than one purpose and last more than a season. The basic-yet-classy first collection consists of women’s must-have pieces like a maxi jumpsuit, black dress and blazer.

Our picks: The basic dress (available in black or white, B4,890) with sheer sleeves and sides for a sexy touch. The Posh Jumpsuit (available in white or navy, B5,890) also goes for a work and play crossover look, with its smart black cross waistband and casual V-neckline.

Pitchana

The brand: Another brand run by the second-generation owner of a womenswear tailor shop, Pitchana started out as an Instagram account over a year ago before leaping onto the runways with its first mini-collection for spring/summer 2015.

The style: Designer Pitchana Ekachai goes for a casual-meets-elegant look with items for the on-the-go working woman. The first collection keeps things functional but gorgeous in a variety of crop tops, flared trousers and asymmetrical skirts.

Our picks: The halter crop top (B3,990) boasts a sporty touch in colors like gray-blue and olive green, while flared trousers (B3,990) in the same colors complete the look. The drop-shoulder creme dress (B5,990) comes in a nice, curved cut and crepe fabric. The asymmetrical black skirt with fringe detailing (B4,990) is another must-have if you’re looking for a playful and sexy piece.

Sequin and Suede

The brand: Launched in 2013, this brand initially imported collections from Korea and sold them via Instagram (@sequinandsuede). After opening its first flagship store at Siam Square One last year, it’s since branched out with its own specially-designed collection, titled Shakespeare Unknown.

The style: As the collection’s name suggests, you can expect graphic prints featuring European literary influences. The cuts stick to boyish styles with slightly oversized silhouettes. Items like crop tops, blazers and bell-bottom pants encourage an interchangeable work-toparty look.

Our picks: We like the collection’s twisted takes on Victorian imagery which feature on the strapless top (B3,350), bell-bottom pants (B6,250) and blazer (B6,200). The blazer, in particular, can be worked both during the day in the office and later at night.

Commit a Sin

The brand: This brand announced itself with a fall/winter 2014 collection full of sharp and boyish designs and forestry-inspired graphic prints in gold, deep blue and white tones. Pattamon Taechanarong’s new Young Diana collection
keeps things equally adventurous.

The style: Commit a Sin is aimed at independent women with a carefree attitude. This is reflected in the bold red and disco colors of blue and pink in the new collection, and the standout cuts which are alluring without showing skin.

Our picks: The highlights are the red pieces. If you’re going to buy just one piece, make it the suit-collar maxi jumpsuit (B11,500)—very professional yet very sexy. The double button longsleeve top (B7,500), too, can be paired with trousers, a flared skirt or a crop top.
