This coffee subscription site, Hook, sources sustainably grown and ethically produced beans from places like Kenya, Ethiopia and Colombia, with the aim to adopt a 100% Direct Trade practice. But socially-concious speak aside, they have delicious blends that come with interesting monikers: Hakuna Matata (Kenya), a medium roast with notes of blackcurrant macarons, vanilla and caramel; the Peara Peara (Antioquia, Colombia), a medium roast that resembles poached pears and dark chocolate sauce, and Guji Liay (East Sidamo, Ethiopia), which has nuances of Meyer lemon meringue pie. There are blends suitable for espresso, drip, Aeropress, French press and stove top options, and coffee drip bags for those who prefer a quick fix. All blends (250g) are at $18 nett.
While Cafebond is all about Melbourne's best coffee (for now), Joe Curious offers a monthly subscription to a selection of beans from renowned international roasters. Subscribers get a "mystery" bundle comprising a choice of filter/espresso roast beans, with tasting notes, details of its origin, and brewing information, as well as recipes and tips. The service also has starter kits with Aeropress ($161), French press ($159) and Cold Brew ($169) options that come with an AeroPress coffee maker, a French press device or a cold brew bottle, a mini coffee grinder and a drip scale. $30 per month.

The new Wanderwine has wines handpicked by local sommeliers like Gerald Lu, Singapore's Sommelier 2010; Fazil Mohammad, World Gourmet Summit Sommelier of the Year 2015; and Stephanie Rigourd, a specialist in boutique wineries. The cellar categorizes wines by type, country, grape varietal and price, but also has handy tasting notes and food pairing recommendations. Expect an ever-changing list of bottles (from $31) like Two Hands Bella's Garden Shiraz 2012 ($89) and Cava Brut Reserva Agusti Torello Mata ($45), an elegant Spanish bubbly. Shipping is free for orders over $75 and they get it out to you within 24 hours.
On the other hand, Nuevo Vino is a nifty website for mood-based drinkers rather than semi-experts. While you can select bottles by wine type, there are also options for the type of occasion (just for a quiet night? Or a night with the boys?), as well as primary tasting notes like cocoa, spice, wood, tropical and floral. Their selection is more affordable than Wanderwine, though still serious, including a large range of French, Spanish and Italian wines starting at $24 for a bottle of Amatista Frizzante Moscato, and also has an interesting selection of Turkish, Greek and Lithuanian spirits like raki, ouzo and vodka. Best part: they deliver free, and there's no minimum order.
Launched a year ago, Whisky Butler is probably the only online whisky tasting club in Singapore. It's a service that selects, curates and delivers monthly samplers of four premium whisky drams right to your doorstep. If you like anything in particular, you get special rates on bottles. The cheapest tier is the $88 pay-as-you-go subscription and is good for newbies, while the $498 half-year subscription and the $888 full year subscription are perfect for hardline whisky lovers. You can cancel or freeze your subscription at any time, if you have a change of heart. On the old world front, there's the Old Pulteney 21, aka World Whisky of the Year 2012, and the Irish Redbreast 21. But more interestingly, there's a Yamazaki 18 from Japan and the Kalavan Soloist Sherry from Taiwan. You'll remember that the distillery shook things up with a big win in 2014.

Joining existing food delivery services FoodPanda and Deliveroo (who is partnering with Grab), UberEATS has launched here today. For a limited period, the app is offering those living and working in areas like Tanjong Pagar, River Valley, Orchard and the CBD access to over 100 restaurants with no minimum spend. On the list are quality establishments like Burnt Ends (the San Pellegrino-lauded Australian grill that only accepts 6pm reservations), Spanish tapas restaurant FOC and Korean Tex-Mex gastrobar Vatos Urban Tacos. UberEATS promises to deliver within 30 mins from 11am-10:30pm, and like FoodPanda and Deliveroo, food options will be limited by proximity. While we are stoked about the exciting line-up of restaurants, don't expect to be able to order any dish off their regular menus—the service has collaborated with the chefs to produce a curated (and delivery-friendly) selection instead. The free app can be downloaded on both IOS and Android phones, and first-time users of the service can use the one-time code SGXEATS to get $15 off their order.

Not far behind, Deliveroo has announced its partnership with car sharing and taxi booking service, Grab. From now until Aug 7, customers who book Grab services can earn up to $40 Deliveroo credits per week, as long as they complete five or more trips a week on GrabCar (Economy) or use the app's flash feature that lets users find rides close to them. To participate in the promotion, register here.
Foodpanda has recently added new F&B partners such as Wine Connection, Potato Head Folk and Chotto Matte to its list, and more options in heartland hoods like Hougang and Sengkang.
While delivery services like Food Panda and Deliveroo offer a smattering of hawker options, Singapore-based e-commerce company hawker.today focuses solely on food delivery from hawker centers and coffee shops via an app for both iPhone and Android users.
Downloading the app is free, and users can order any amount of food and at multiple stalls, as long as the orders are from the same hawker center or coffee shop located within the vicinity of their postal code. A $3 surcharge applies on orders below $12 and delivery fees start from $4.50. Using the service can be expensive if you're going solo (though about the same as Deliveroo), so gather your friends and colleagues for a more cost effective lunch/dinner.
