Conrad unveils designer mooncake boxes almost too elegant to open

Mooncake season only comes around once a year, and here’s a chance to make it extra-special. For this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival, Conrad Hotel’s mooncake offerings not only promise big flavors but also boast the most elaborate of packaging.
Available from now through Sep 13, the hotel’s eight-piece Luxury Box (B1,588 net) packs together four delicious flavors in a multi-tier gift box that’s gorgeously decorated with red floral patterning and elegant folding fans. Now, that’s the kind of attention to detail that’ll surely make your grandma (and, of course, the rest of the family) proud.
Included in the set are Conrad’s beloved East-meets-West flavors, Golden Custard and Classic Durian, which have been hotel staples for the past 15 years, as well as two creative newcomers. Multigrain is a vegan-friendly, textural sensation that combines almond, watermelon seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, black sesame and oatmeal, while White Lotus Paste also incorporates egg yolk for a sweet and salty punch.
All mooncakes are prepared and baked daily by Hong Kong-native Andy Fung, chef at Conrad’s Liu Chinese Restaurant and Deli, and are completely preservative-free. That means you’ll want to eat them all up within a week. Good news is you can always stock up with more mooncakes in regular four- and eight-piece boxes (B888 or B1,288 net).
Order online before Aug 22 and you’ll enjoy a 15-percent discount. A 10-percent discount also applies for online bookings through Sep 13. For the internet-averse, mooncake orders can also be made at both Liu and Deli by Conrad at the hotel.
