Your vibe guide to Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok’s festive calendar
That’s your December sorted!
Few hotels in Bangkok have as many eateries under one roof as the Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok, and you bet the hotel is going all-out this festive season, with a distinct celebration planned at each of its five on-site venues. Whether you’re feeling like swanky high tea or want to count down to midnight at an epic bash, here’s a breakdown of their entire “Holiday & You” calendar and what’s what based on the vibes you’re looking for:
If you’re in the mood for a (free!) night of live classical music:
On December 19, the lush greenery of the outdoor Urban Oasis will act as the backdrop to an al fresco concert by the legendary IHS World Orchestra, a non-profit organization whose mission is to bring joy through music to audiences around the world. The event itself is completely free to attend, and guests can order from a festive à la carte food and beverage menu as they enjoy the sweet tunes.
If you’re in the mood for jetting off to Italy for the night:

It’s no secret that Ms.Jigger is one of Bangkok’s coolest narrative-driven resto-cocktail bars. Starting from Nov. 25, the venue will be celebrating their “Feste Delle Dolomiti” by transforming into a magical white Christmas scene resembling the majestic Italian Dolomite Alps. The Italian influences will be mirrored in the festive menu, which will be available for an exclusive 12 days from Dec. 21 to Jan. 1. Culinary highlights include angel hair pasta with garlic olive oil, scallops, and Baeri caviar, beef carpaccio with sundried yellow cherry tomatoes and sliced Italian truffle, pan-seared Secreto Iberico pork with caramelized figs and Primitivo red wine sauce, and hazelnut cream crêpes.

A special four-course set menu will also be available to mark Christmas and New Year Eve’s, with live jazz soundtracking your evenings. We don’t want to spoil too many surprises, but the Christmas Eve menu (B,4500) will include slow-cooked veal cheek in Primitivo red wine sauce, and olive oil risotto with langoustines and nduja, while the New Year’s Eve menu (B,4500) will delight with dishes like eggplant and four-cheese tortelli, and Argentinian red prawn tartare with stracciatella cheese and balsamic caviar. The NYE dinner is available until midnight, making it the perfect dinner spot to start your night before the big countdown.
If you’re in the mood for eating your way through a classic Christmas market:

Stock.Room is one of Bangkok’s few grocerants (a hybrid grocery store and restaurant), making it a food connoisseur’s true one-stop destination year-round. Naturally, the venue is kicking it into high gear, with the whole place decorated like a delightful Christmas market, and two Christmas Eve and Christmas Day festive menus to match the mood. Think freshly baked panettone and Christmas cookies, whole roasted turkey, honey-glazed hams, and a magnificent dark chocolate fountain.

The Christmas Eve Dinner buffet (B4,555/3,499;B1,199 for children under 12) includes a spread featuring whole-baked salmon, fresh pasta, seafood on ice, and even a live ceviche and tartare station. After opening Santa’s presents on Christmas morning, bring the whole family down for the iconic Christmas Day Brunch (B4,555/3,888;B1,199 for children under 12). Dig into delicacies like salt-crusted baked salmon, foie gras, Canadian lobster thermidor, herb-roasted leg of lamb, and wagyu Kobe ribeye (just to name a very few). As you can tell, whether you opt to celebrate Christmas Eve or Day (or both!) at Stock.Room, make sure you come with an empty stomach.
If you’re in the mood to kick off NYE with a chic girls’ night out:

If you and your girlfriends are looking to pregame before the big midnight countdown to NYE, there’s no better (or classier) spot than CRAFT, the Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok’s laidback social hub café. On Dec. 24 and 31, they’ll be putting on their first ever Lobster and Bubbles (B2,199)—a chic soirée out on the breezy terrace that includes one whole charcoal-grilled fresh Canadian lobster, along with unlimited Caesar salad, seasonal sides and desserts, and both alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. Guests who are vegetarian or saving their appetite for later can also choose to have only the unlimited Caesar salad (B699).
If you’re in the mood to live out your posh high tea fantasies:

Not many hotels can say that one of their restaurants is a cozy home library, but Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok can thanks to their eponymous Maa-Lai Library. Don your most regal garments, and take the lift up to the 30th floor where you can indulge in the Tales of Christmas afternoon tea while taking in the panoramic views. The Pocket Edition Tea (B,1650) features nibbles such as chicken kaprao golden bags, mini katsu sando’s, and crispy poached quail eggs. The Premium Edition Tea (B,2000) includes fresh seafood specialties like Norwegian langoustine spring rolls, and spicy tuna cones. Both sets also include drinks and two glasses of sparkling wine, as well as an assortment of festive sweets such as gingerbread-spiced financier, festive cookies, and mini pecan pie cheesecakes.
If you’re in the mood for a New Year’s Eve/Day family fiesta:

Gather the whole gang, including the little and elderly members, and have one last family feast in 2023 at Stock.Room’s New Year’s Eve Buffet dinner (B3,750/2,555/B999 for children under 12). The restaurant will provide the drinks, food, and music—all you have to bring is your best fit, your best memories from 2023, and, of course, your New Year’s resolutions.
Alternatively (or additionally), kick off 2024 with your nearest and dearest at the New Year’s Day Sea Bar x Street Food Brunch (B2,555/1,655/B999 for children under 12). As the name suggests, diners will be treated to a feast of fresh seafood and classic Thai street food dishes—is there a more perfect way to begin the new year than with good food and good company? (We think not.)
If you’re in the mood for raising a glass to the city as the clock strikes midnight:

What better spot to say goodbye to 2023 and hello to 2024 than at Bar.Yard, this year’s winner of BK Magazine’s own BAD (Bangkok After Dark) award for Best Rooftop Bar? Raise the (metaphorical) roof at the swanky 40th floor venue where the breeze is breezing, the drinks are flowing, and the music is pumping thanks to both live performances by Madame Rouge and some of the city’s best DJs. A limited number of early bird tickets (B1,000) are available until Dec. 30, and include a glass of sparkling wine. Alternatively, you can buddy up and opt for one of their four-person packages, which cover the entry fees, and include complimentary drinks and snacks. Pick between the indoor table package (B,8000), or go all out and secure one of the best views of the city with an outdoor table package (B,14,000). Scheduled to go up until 3am, this is set to be one of Bangkok’s most epic NYE parties.
More information about all of these events, as well as how to book your reservations, can be found online, via phone at 02-056-9999, or by emailing [email protected].
Top Tip: Book by Dec. 15 to grab their early bird offers.
