And the leafy place is serving Spanish food.

Michelin-starred Spanish chef Carles Gaig has quietly opened a Spanish restaurant in the leafy surrounds of Dempsey Hill. The restaurant is so under the radar that it's pretty hard to locate the airy white building. (Hint: it's near PS Cafe and The Disgruntled Chef).

La Ventana is a quintessential Catalan tapas bar with small sharing dishes of Canelon, a cannelloni-style dish stuffed with foie gras, beef and pork in truffle cream; Carabinero paella in a dark brown sauce; crispy boned suckling pig and pigeon two-ways—confit and josper-grilled. A Spanish restaurant wouldn't be complete without sangria and this place has plenty of the red variety.

Plus, the restaurant is run by his daughter, who mans the floor, and his son-in-law, who is in the kitchen, which means that family standards are kept. The Gaig family have owned a restaurant in Barcelona since 1869, and it's had a Michelin star since 1993.
