Sukhumvit's sky-high Indian restaurant returns with tapas-style bites
Maya gets a new lease of life.
Maya, the elevated Indian restaurant on the 29th-floor of the Holiday Inn Sukhumvit, has returned to public consciousness with a new menu that's big on street food-inspired small bites.
Taking a step back from the restaurant's stuffy fine-dining origins, these bite-size morsels like agra samosa chaat (stuffed deep-fried pastry shells with tangy chickpeas, B300), aromatic lamb seekh kebab (B420) and neja chicken tikka (pine nut and olive-crusted chicken bites, B400) are made for sharing.
The menu also veers into more contemporary realms by switching up ingredients, as in the case off the papri chaat (B175), which sees wheat crisps stuffed with avocado mash instead of the usual potato—the idea being you can try more dishes without busting your belt.
Other veggie-packed highlights can be found in patty form, like the edamame herb tikki (B300) and the vibrant beetroot galawati (B325).
If all the talk of small plates has you hankering for a good ol' curry, fear not: you'll find a bunch of hefty classics consigned to the "Heritage" section of the menu.
To go with, a new line of cocktails also put the emphasis on Indian herbs and spices, while DJs spin contemporary hits and Bollywood tunes till late.
