Kanchanaburi nitro coffee pops up in Bangkok
Pulled from a tap, it looks and even tastes a bit like a cold beer. Nitro is a smooth and creamy coffee seemingly made for the Bangkok summer.
Finca de Barn is an exciting new player on Bangkok's burgeoning coffee circuit. Appearing regularly as a stall at foodie events like K Village's recurring Urban Eatery (the fourth weekend of every month), it's one of the town's few spots to offer nitro cold brew coffee, served up on tap not unlike beer.
Owner Santiti Untabal oversees the whole process, from the farming and processing to the roasting and beyond. The Arabica beans are mostly grown on his family's farm in the highlands of Kanchanaburi, near the Myanmar border, where Santiti says the conditions are similar to coffee-growing regions in Central America--hence the name, which references the Spanish word for farmland (finca).
Made with a mix of coffee varietals he dubs "Thai heirloom coffee," Santiti's says his blends' tasting notes are considerably different from from those from other more famous coffee regions in Thailand. Indeed, one of his blends, Cigarato, is designed to be enjoyed with a cigar in hand.
You can order the beans starting at B300/250g through Facebook. Currently, Santiti is also working on a small cold brew coffee tap unit for use at restaurants and cafes.
Among other events, Finca de Barn will be participating at the upcoming Soi Nana Jumble Sale (Jun 21). For more information on pop-ups and ordering, see http://ow.ly/NArfc
