New Japanese dining concept Bincho now open at Tiong Bahru
One of Tiong Bahru's newest eateries is yet another hip and happening dining concept by the Unlisted Collection group.
Serving up mainly omakase sets, Bincho joins the ranks of Unlisted Collection's hip dining concepts as a Japanese eatery and bar hidden behind a seemingly nondescript mee pok store.
A cool mix of futuristic and old-school design elements, the restaurant features a cocktail bar, an open-concept yakitori bar, and a main dining area that's the mee pok store, Hua Bee (the one made famous in Eric Khoo's Mee Pok Man). From $50 to $80, you can get yourself an omakase set (choose either Sakura or Bincho) with chicken as the star ingredient of most of the dishes. Grilled, fried, in patty form, served with various sides and condiments—there's lots of play with texture and taste. If you prefer, the steamboat set Miyabi ($50 per person, minimum 2 pax) is also an option.
Over at the cocktail bar, helmed by mixologist Stefan Ravalli of The Library, sake and shochu-based 'Japeritifs' ($22-$28) are available, together with a range of Japanese whiskies (from $17).
