The Chiang Mai artists collective Yonyang recently opened a street stall-style eatery, Krua Khun Kan by Yonyang at Hof Eat & Art (2/F, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, 939 Rama 1 Rd., 081-595-0562. BTS National Stadium). The venue is decorated with performance props, and the walls plastered with lines of black handwriting. But despite the Thai name, the menu is resolutely Japanese, featuring dishes like chirashi sushi (rice topped with various sashimi, B350) and pork curry rice (B120). In a touch of performance art, the sashimi is delivered to patrons via a vendor’s tricycle that is pedaled around the shop.
