Contemporary European with Japanese twists.

After a few idle months, German chef Mirco Keller is back with a new seasonal tasting menu (B4,900) at his Suan Phlu contemporary European restaurant.

Across nine courses, Keller weaves a continent-hopping menu of childhood’s favorites, drawing heavily from Asian cuisine. The flavors here feature dishes like a plump cut of salmon swimming in Japanese dashi and yuzu dressing; piping hot duck dumplings alongside foie gras terrine tart; and vichyssoise served warm with a Berlin potato bun reminiscent of mantou.

There are three choices of main: Anjou pigeon featuring an artichoke a la barigoule, rillettes, and port wine sauce Keller makes from scratch; MR Wagyu Beef 8+ Rib Eye, which sees the large chunk of beef seared and served alongside with pickled cucumber, mustard seeds, and roti sauce; and the Japanese blackfin seabass, which Keller skins and bakes to crispy perfection, rests in a beurre blanc sauce that lends a creamy texture.

For those who don’t want to go all the way, there are also a la carte options from both seasonal and classic menus. A wine pairing is available at B2,150 for four glasses or diners can opt for a four-glass mocktail pairing (B890).
