First, it was the minimalist 24-seat sushi bar in Saladaeng, Fatboy Sushi, and then came the much lauded Fatboy Izakaya. Starting today (May 16), Fatboy Izakaya will be open for lunch.

On the lunch menu, diners will find curried mushroom katsu (B300), crispy koji chicken leg (B400), and wagyu beef teriyaki (B460). Big ticket items include the kanpachi, salmon, and akami sashimi (B550) and the lacquered lamb rib (B650). All lunch sets include miso. Coffees start at B80, matcha at B140, or you can splash out for a sakura cocktail (B250).

Fatboy Sushi, once a longtime Bangkok favorite open since 2015, closed and was reborn in December 2022 as the fun, kitschy Fatboy Izakaya in Ekkamai serving modern Japanese with a twist, good for drinking and socializing.

If you’re staying after lunch, grab the highball flavors (elderflower, shochu, yuzu, passionfruit, B250 each), or something a little more adventurous such as the Let That Man-Go, packed with wasabi, tequila, and mezcal with cointreau and toasted sticky rice, mango puree, and Greek yogurt (BB350).
