First launching at the beginning of the year and then pell mell through the Covid resurgence, Alati’s a la carte Mediterranean menu—and champagne if you’re feeling bubbly—is back and busy on Sundays at Siam Kempinski.

With flavors courtesy of the Chef Carlo Valenziano, the menu is designed around a sort of French riviera feast and chef specials throughout the brunch experience change every week. Served tableside on BK’s recent visit was a seafood paella and a truffle cavatelli served from inside a wheel of cheese for a little extra theater.

Going big on the fresh Mediterranean seafood flavors, the Sunday Riviera Brunch starts out with a whopping platter of lobster, white prawns, oysters, blue crab remoulade, and mussels—all served on dry ice to keep your instagram happy. Outdoor dining will be available, but the sun-dappled early afternoon atmosphere in the plush surrounds of the Kempinski are hard to turn down.

The appetizers are where this brunch really shines: creative twists and classic faves. Don’t miss the tomato and burrata tart or the adorable lobster and prawn roll, which comes on a petite brioche bagel and avruga caviar. Of the charcuterie, there is a fascinating little foie gras creme brule—yes, really—and the chicken liver truffle pate is an especially savory diversion.

If you’ve had your fill of seafood, for your main grab the beef rossini, a pan fried wagyu medallion under truffle and mushroom sauce, or the lamb. But there is seafood here too, namely the grilled snow fish.

For dessert, chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate from Strasbourg native Chef Franck Istel. The lemon tart and almond chocolate apple pie are both commendable—especially the chocolate and apple flavors together—but there is one indomitable star of the Alati brunch dessert. It’s called “To Finish” and it is a thick, indulgent hot chocolate with marshmallows. If the jolly Chef Franck isn’t there to give you the advice allow us: you do not need the honey on the side. It’s perfectly fine to just enjoy the 70% chocolate without the extra oomph.

With the diverse options, it will probably be best to eat your way through the Sunday Riviera Brunch (B3,200++) in a group, and the free-flow wine package is added on for B1,400++ or patrons can splash out for the Louis Roederer Brut Premier Champagne for B2,600++.
