Get to know the mysterious Black Cat and its cat gang in Soi Langsuan

Sindhorn Midtown Hotel Bangkok in the Langsuan neighborhood has been the talk of the town, thanks to its uber-cool Thai whiskey bar that is inspired by playful and affectionate black cats. Hidden in a corner of the lobby floor, The Black Cat is a cozy and sophisticated 40-seater lounge and bar.

Take your pick from the bar’s inspired drink menu, which is peppered with fresh Thai ingredients. Its signature cocktails are innovatively themed on the lucky cats of Thai mythology. Firstly, Korn Ja (or The Black Cat) is Mekhong infused with ginger cola syrup and garnished with golden powder and ginger slices. Then, there is Wichien Maat (or Siamese Cat), a spiced rum blended with house-made yellow curry.

(Left: Supalak , Right: Khao Manee)

Supalak (or Copper) is a quirky iteration of the classic Negroni, made with Sangsom, Campari, Mancino Bianco vermouth and passion fruit. If you like bright, tropical cocktails, Khao Manee (or The Diamond Eye) is a concoction of local gin, pineapple juice and honey syrup, garnished with a drop of blue liquor that figuratively represents a cat’s eye.

This bar has non-alcoholic options too, such as the Garfield, which is a mocktail inspired by the famous grumpy cartoon cat. This frizzy and fruity beverage is an orange juice concoction mixed with lemonade and grapefruit syrup, topped with soda. Pair your favorite beverages with the bar’s popular dishes, such as its delicious charcoal-grilled wagyu beef skewers with Sriracha chili sauce.

You’ll be energized by The Black Cat’s friendly and inviting atmosphere. Make new friends and celebrate with old pals, over affordable refreshments and live music.

***From 11 to 14 February (which is Valentine’s day, of course), The Black Cat is hosting a “Black Valentine at The Black Cat” event, offering special treats for those who spend singles’ night out. Each person will get a free welcome shot when visiting in a group of three or more and will get another shot if dressed in black. Plus, if you reserve a table in advance with a pre-paid bottle, you will receive a mysterious gift. You can also get another mysterious gift when spending every 1,000 baht and up during the night.

Besides the treats, you can enjoy a few special live music from 7pm-9:30pm: One from Aey Kuljira from the Voice Thailand Season 3 on 11 Feb. and two from LookKaew from the Voice Thailand Season 3 on 12 and 14 Feb.
