Jamie Koh (also behind Mexican shots bar Chupitos) has just launched three-story bourbon specialist The Beast in Kampong Glam.

The decor of the place is raw and rustic (Koh went to school in Georgia and the design takes inspiration from Southern watering holes). And they offer six kinds of bourbon at the moment (like Wild Turkey, Makers Mark and Four Roses). But there’ll eventually be 30 types of the spirit available when the full menu is ready. The final menu will also include bourbon cocktails (from $18).

Food-wise, it’s just drink-friendly snacks like sweet potato fries ($8) for now. But they’ll later introduce heartier plates like shrimp and grits. The top floor of the bar is an event space, which will be available for private parties.
