Best New Pizza
Has it not even been a year? Anchored at Sala Daeng’s MK Gold parking lot, this huge food truck stems from a collaboration between two French and Italian powers, namely French restaurateur Frederic Meyer (Issaya Siamese Club and Namsaah Bottling Trust) and Italian chef Luca Apino (La Bottega di Luca). And the pizza is pretty amazing. In addition to the classic margherita (B250/400), other options include spicy andouja and garlic (B380), the French-inspired la ratatouille (B400) and baby squid provencal (B300). Drinks range from limonata and orangeade to wine and Italian draft beer.
Good news for those who like proper sit-down places to enjoy their legit pizzas, the truck has just branched out as a brick-and-mortar place.

Best New Burger
Burgler Burger comes from the owner of Sofitel So Bangkok in league with young entrepreneur Chakhorn Rungruengpaitoon (of Plent dessert cafe and Why So Serious Catering), who’ve pinched the same quality meats and house-baked buns used in the rirtzy hotel and taken them to the street at a fraction of the price. The trucks offerings include a wagyu burger (150g wagyu patty with bacon, caramelized onion, cos, aioli and two slices of cheddar cheese, B229) and the Barbekill (150g-pork patty with cheddar cheese, pineapple and barbecue sauce, B189). Also stay tuned for the upcoming triple-cheese Nuclear Burger with a 180g patty made from Australian, US and wagyu beef.

Special mention: Hashtag
Easily spotted by the flaming torches above its signage, Hashtag doesn’t just offer the classic combination of meat patty, lettuce, tomato and onions (B160); they’ll also add a dollop of controversial ingredients like peanut butter, raspberry or mango into the mix. Want to know what the Mango Works’ (B200) combination of mango and cheese tastes like in a burger? Follow their
Facebook page to where the truck is parked.

Best New Barbecue
The latest addition to the
Rocket empire saw
Lady Brett partner up with entrepreneurs Ratish Sachathamakul and Ramon Narula to take its barbecued bites on the road. Here, group executive chef Patrick Martens plays around with a new barbecue technique: instead of charcoal grilling, he smokes the meat with coconut and oak wood chips at 80-120 degrees Celsius for 8-12 hours. Options include the pulled pork shoulder (B190) and chopped chicken (B170) sandwiches, served in house-made buns. But our pick would have to be the juicy beef brisket with Southern-style biscuit and onion gravy (B250). Vegetarians aren't forgotten, either, as the chef also does a sandwich comprising grilled eggplant, garlic aioli, red cabbage and kale slaw, tomato and red onion (B160).

Best New Tacos
The black taco truck is co-owned by a Le Cordon Bleu graduate, who's based his specialty tacos on traditional Mexican recipes. The truck's offerings include the special flour tortilla chips with salsa (B60) or guacamole (B100), tacos (two per serving) with fillings like chicken tinga (B160), al pastor (pork, B180), shredded beef (B200) and the vegetarian cocoa bean, corn and zucchini (B150). Or opt for the trio option (one each of chicken, pork and beef) at B300. We're impressed not only with the flour and corn tortilla, made in-house from scratch, but also the salsas ranging from sweet-and-sour pineapple to hot and smoky.

Named after two cities of angels, Los Angeles and Bangkok, this colorfully painted truck serves up tacos in a house-made corn tortilla, made using imported corn masa from California. Fillings include classics like al pastor (pork) and carne asada (beef), as well as Thai twists like gai yang somtam (grilled chicken with papaya salad) and tom yum gung, all priced at B60 each. Other than tacos, they also serve choriqueso (open tortilla with Mexican chorizo and melted cheese and shrimp ceviche on tostada) and burritos.
