Above Eleven

This bar and restaurant doesn't just have great views of the city going for it; there's also an adventurous menu of Japanese-Peruvian fusion (aka Nikkei) cuisine. Small plates like acebichado rolls (seabass, ika karage, avocado) and skewers of anticucho beef heart are bettered only by their signature cocktails. Note that if you're sitting at the bar you'll have your back to the skyline, so it's worth booking a table in advance.

Above Riva

Head up to the fourth-floor rooftop of this chic new boutique hotel and you'll find an alfresco terrace where practically every table gets prime views of the river and Wat Arun. The thick drinks menu covers most moods, from whiskey and beer to cocktails, while food puts a Thai touch to Western classics, from light bites like deep-fried calamari served with salted egg yolk, to a take on osso bucco in massaman curry.

Attitude

Sitting on top of the riverside Avani hotel, this new rooftop restaurant-slash-bar offers views of the river from 26 floors above Bangkok. The big, well-stocked bar stands up front among outdoor tables, offering both classic and refreshing signature drinks like the Moulin Rouge. Food covers a list of playful Asian-inspired tapas like smoked duck with nampla lacquer and tea gel, and lamb shoulder in the form of a lollipop. The chefs in the open kitchen also make filling dishes like grilled ahi tuna and Aussie wagyu beef tomahawk steak. Don’t miss creative desserts like the Xtra Virgin, which features apple in five forms.

Barisa

This casual new rooftop bar takes over the top floor of The Commons, Thonglor's hip development of food kiosks and shops. Bean bags strewn across the lawn, string lights and a lengthy bar table all contribute to a friendly communal vibe. Tapas-portioned dishes with Middle-Eastern and South-American influences draw a young, cosmopolitan crowd, as do cocktails like the tequila old fashioned with smoked cinamon and spiced Grenadine.

Park Society, SO Sofitel Bangkok

The restaurant on the top of SO Sofitel Bangkok recently got a new head chef, Joost Bijster, who's unveiled a menu that eschews fine dining in favor of more casual, shareable bites. You can still expect delicate plating in dishes like burrato di bufala with heirloom tomatoes, pan-seared Tasmanian salmon with white asparagus, leek, fennel and hollandaise sauce, and Iberico belotta with fresh melon, as well as some top new cocktails in the adjoining rooftop bar.

Red Sky

The 55th-floor view from Centara's rooftop puts this bar in the same league as high flyers like Vertigo at the Banyan Tree. Alfresco dining and drinking takes place under a swooping, red-lit arch, while chef Hugo Coudurier's seasonal menus spotlight classic, rich steak dishes. Don't miss the truffle-infused wagyu beef tenderloin Rossini—a menu staple and proven crowd-pleaser.

The urban jungle decor is a playful blend of sculptural pieces and funky lighting while the menu is focused on meats you can grill at your own table on sizzling hot stones. Beef ranges from Australian rib-eye, to Argentinean beef tenderloin and all the way up to Aussie wagyu sirloin. You can also pick from a range of seafood options or try creative pastas like the braised duck rigatoni in Calvados sauce or lamb stew vongole gratin with fresh mint.

The Speakeasy

This rooftop cocktail lounge takes you back to the jazz age. The two-story space sports prohibition era-inspired decor, featuring lots of dark woods and Art Deco touches. A balcony on the 24th floor lets you take in 180-degree views of Bangkok’s business district, while an alfresco rooftop offers a more leisurely atmosphere. Vogue Lounge

This cocktail bar serves more than just expensive drinks by a highly regarded Italian mixologist. They’ve also brought onboard a Michelin-star-winning chef, Vincent Thierry, formerly of Caprice in Hong Kong, to create a menu of incredibly elegant (and equally delicious) sharing dishes. The 1920s-inspired bar features a small indoor area dominated by plum leather, bronze and marble, while outside is a beautiful air-conditioned terrace.
