Far from your standard cakes-on-a-stand affair, five-star Siam Kempinski’s “Afternoon Tea Reimagined,” (B999/person, plus tax and service) is more like a performance than high tea, offering sophisticated gluttony in five creative courses.

Served in the hotel's elegant lobby Hanuman Bar to the soothing sounds of a live harpist, the parade of sweet and savory goods arrive with such exquisite presentation that you almost don’t want to eat them.

First, choose your brew from a beautiful custom-made tea trolley offering 24 blends. Next, a traditional picnic-like pinto (Thai lunch box) is unscrewed to reveal nine tiny treats—and this is only course one—from a massaman duck-topped crispy rice cracker to a sweet mini honey and lime matcha cone.

Purists will be happy to know the next course comes on a traditional tea stand, offering up in-house smoked salmon blinis, crab rillettes with horseradish butter and a BBQ pork steamed bao.

Make way for a quilted presentation box filled with a dizzying array of mini eclairs in six different flavors, before finding room for freshly-baked scones, served with traditional cream and jam and not-so-traditional (but surprisingly delicious) tropical passion fruit curd.

Feeling full? Too bad, because the piece de resistance is yet to arrive. Enter, a mini tree adorned with glistening luk chup fruits—but wait, that's not all. The presentation table opens up to reveal box-upon-box of marshmallows, pralines, sweets and macaroons. Safe to say, you won’t need breakfast, or dinner, if you’re headed here—and prize goes to anyone who’s able to finish the lot.

Available Sat-Sun 2-5pm. Fascinators encouraged but not essential. For more info, check out the website.
