10 boutique nightclubs in Singapore
Zouk and Butter Factory aren't the only places to party in Singapore. Here's a list of boutique clubs that might suit your fancy, especially if you're looking for a little exclusivity.
Home Club may have closed (after a solid decade as one of the very few baller-free zones in Singapore's club scene), but it's been relaunched as Canvas in collaboration with the team behind Bangkok's Bed Supperclub. The venue’s now a unique nightlife and lifestyle space that also features artworks in several forms and mediums.
This slick baby is the top draw if you have loads of cash to blow—you need a minimum spend of $1,500 for a table. It's also home to Asia’s most expensive cocktail, the Jewel of Pangaea, which consists of $32,000 worth of gold-flecked Hennessey brandy, a hickory smoke-infused sugar cube and 1985 vintage Krug champagne, topped with a 1K diamond.
Replacing Zirca’s old digs is Fenix Room, a ritzy 5,000 sq. ft ultra-lounge, care of nightlife specialists Massive Collective and Lifebrandz. Velvet sofas, dark marbled surfaces and a glamorous Art Deco style island bar make for a Great Gatsby-inspired space, but the theme’s hardly noticeable when psychedelic disco lights flood the dimly-lit interiors. Music-wise, you can expect EDM with the occasional hip-hop, indie and nu-rave.
Designed by nightlife veteran Sharma Das and fashionista Andrew Carver (also the masterminds behind the chi-chi Dom Lounge at MBS), this three-storey luxe club aims to please those with a taste for the finer things in life. If you thrive on exclusivity, the members-only second floor will make you feel right at home. You don’t have to wait till the weekend to party as well, the club is now launching "Warm Up" Tuesdays, a night dedicated to House Techno lovers, and "Vanity Wednesday", where you can enjoy your favorite RnB hits.
This snazzy underground club opened up by The Vault’s scene-savvy team is located right in the heart of the CBD, delivering a dose of instant coolness to the suited-up business district. Designed by Fuur Associates, the 6,000 sq. ft. play-den is where modern minimalism meets traditional Japanese influences, with plenty of rough-hewn stone, bronze and recycled wood. Each weeknight’s playlist features a distinct genre and mood, but the music is reliably tasteful thanks to the musical pedigree of the various resident DJs.
With a name like that (French for “the black”), don’t expect to let loose and go wild here. From its elaborate, glittering chandelier and rich black draping right down to the shimmering black sand on the floor, this place oozes intimacy and subdued sophistication. You can already see the VIPs, the uber-beautiful and the glamorous flocking here for a sexy, slinky soiree.
Adding to the flurry of new VIP clubs, this ultra-luxe 4,000-sq ft space is perched on the 61st floor of One Raffles Place with glorious views of the skyline. It’s run by the folks of One Rochester who brought us vertiginous rooftop bar 1-Altitude (just upstairs), so rest assured that they know how to throw a party. International guest acts play alongside resident DJs like Funkman and Leonard T, previously seen at Zouk KL.
Escape the concrete confines of the city at Tanjong Beach Club at Sentosa. Modelled after a 1950s beach resort, the club comes replete with a pool boasting panoramic views of the sand, two bars, a restaurant and plenty of chill-out spaces. Expect beats ranging from disco to trance and house, from the likes of DJs Has, KFC, Hook and more.
This snazzy new nightclub at Pan Pacific is collaboration between Massive Collective and nightlife veterans Joshua and Sarissa Schwartz, and will be taking over what was previously known as Mink and Royal Room. Amongst its new fittings are a brand new state-of-the art L Acoustics sound system and a high-resolution LED wall, perfect for partying and drinking the night away.
This nightspot, located in the quiet dining enclave of Dempsey, is where you’ll want to go should the urge to shake your booty to R&B anthems strike. The space does double-duty as an alfresco patio lounge and a shiny futuristic club as well, so fuel up with bubbly and cocktails before you bust a move to tunes from resident DJs Titus and Herman.
