La Fete returns this June—here are the highlights
Art aficionados rejoice! Bangkok's biggest cultural festival is back.
From concerts and dance to art and multimedia exhibitions, mark your calendar, as the 10th edition of the La Fête Franco-Thai Cultural Festival 2014, organized by The French Embassy in Thailand, will see events pop up around town from Jun 4-Jul 6. For full schedule, visit Lafete-Bangkok.com.

Fête de la Musique (Music Festival)

This year's lineup for the much-anticipated music event hasn't been officially announced, but given last year saw electro triphop act Wax Tailor, we should be in for yet another good treat.

Loss

Renowned homegrown choreographer Pichet Klunchun collaborate with French dance company A.lter S.essio to re-choreograph this dance piece originally performed as a solo piece by Japanese dancer Yum Keiko Takayama. The multidisciplinary mixes dance with light, sound, drawing and video installations and will be performed in both new and original versions.

The 14:20 Company presents a hypnotizing in-the-dark show combining magic, dance, juggling, music and video effects with collaborations with famed artists such as designer Jean-Paul Gaultier and choreographer Philippe Découflé. Performance has repetitive lighting effects.

Silence On Tourne
June 18, 8pm
Drawing inspiration from cinema of the 1930s-40s, this musical by the Pockemon Crew pays homage to some of the early choreography that would later give birth to hip-hop dance.

Frontières (Borders)
Jun 23-24, 8pm
This new puppet show is the culmination of two years’ collaboration between French company Les Rémouleurs and Chiang Mai puppet masters. Combining two different traditions, the contemporary performance focuses on the interplay of light and shadow and is said to be a poetic depiction of the issue of migration. On show for two rounds before it tours France.

Galleries’ Night Jul 5, from 7pm
Galleries across Bangkok, including the likes of 100 Tonson, Artery and the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC), will open until late to offer an exclusive annual art experience. Expect a lot of pop-up collaborations and art projects.
