Celebrate two big birthdays: the beloved Bangkok Farmers' Market turns one and those molam-loving party-starters Paradise Bangkok turn five. Also, the big book fair also kicks off today, plus there' a free music festival and ongoing documentary screenings to keep everyone happy.

Paradise Bangkok 5th Anniversary (Mar 28)

How time flies. It’s been five years since Zudrangma began making molam (Thai country grooves) cool again. Now to celebrate in due style, Mongkol RCA Studio will transform into a groovy dancehall for the Paradise Bangkok 5th Anniversary. DJs Maft Sai and Chris Menist will roll out the welcome mat for the Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band, Thai folk rap queen Kwanjit Sriprajan and molam king Yenjit Porntwi.

Bangkok Farmers’Market 1st anniversary (Mar 29-30, 9am)
This weekend, the much-loved monthly gathering of local produce celebrates its first year, while the Spring Epicurean Market also takes place at Spring Summer (Mar 30).

FAIR
The 42nd National Book Fair & 12th Bangkok International Book Fair 2014 (Mar 28-Apr 7)

Bangkok’s bookworms will head to the annual big National and International Book Fairs for the chance to get their books signed by a local author and enjoy unbeatable promotions from publishing houses. Join the throng at Queen Sirikit National Conventional Center.

Thaitanic (Mar 28)

Board the big boat in Charoenkrung Soi 80 to mingle with some very bizarre versions of Jack and Rose as the notorious Trasher crew introduce a Thai dance take on Titanic’s star-crossed love tale. On a boat in Charoenkrung 80 (Soi Seng Ki).

Popscene Live (Mar 28)

This last-minute gig by indie organizer Popscene lines up four local acts Degaruda, The Sangsom Massacre, The Sticky Rice and Local Machine tonight (from 9pm) at Rehab Bar (21/123 RCA Block D, 081-915-8823). Entry: B200 (1 Asahi)

CONCERT
Melody of Life (Mar 29-30)
The big free music fest returns to the front of CentralWorld. Expect a lot of teen spirit, all the usual headliners plus exciting emerging bands like Zweedz n’ Roll and Cloud Behind.

SCREENING 
Salaya Doc (Mar 28-30)
The free screening of these documentray films, including Mat Whitecross’ heart-warming Moving to Mars and Kim Longinotto’s Rough Aunties take place at both Film Archive and BACC over the weekend. See schedule, here.
