For some time, food delivery in Bangkok has been about much more than just fast food. Continuing that trend, Paleo Robbie (www.facebook.com/paleorobbie) is now delivering a paleo diet aimed at health-conscious customers. Everything is organic, with no farmed fish and no preservatives—mimicking the diets of our caveman ancestors. But check out the list of dishes and you’ll quickly realize it isn’t at all stone age fare: beef stroganoff, lamb shank and potato mash, and Norwegian mackerel with grilled squash and vegetable. Check their Facebook page for confirmation when they’ll be joining the Farmer’s Market at K-Village if you want to give it a try. Otherwise, one meal is B399 (plus B50 for delivery anywhere from Don Muang, to Suvarnabhum, or Thon Buri).

How does the Paleo diet differ from other diets?

The Paleo diet is the healthiest way you can eat because it is the only nutritional approach that works with your genes to help you stay lean, strong and energetic. Research indicates that it is our modern diet that is the root cause of degenerative diseases such as obesity, cancer, diabetes and heart disease. Paleo is short for Paleolithic which refers to the era before the advent of agriculture.

What’s Paleo food like?
It’s incredibly lenient. When people first see our menu their response is often, “oh, I didn’t know you could eat so many things.” We literally serve anything from soft shell crab salad to simple New Zealand lamb meatballs in tomato sauce. If we were to sum it up: Paleo foods are gluten and grain free, dairy free, pesticide free, hormone and antibiotic free, but with lots of wild fish, wild or pasture-fed animals, lots of vegetables and a limited amount of fruits and nuts.

How does it benefit your body?
A list of positive things you will notice: losing fat (not muscle), more stable levels of energy, less lethargy, feeling stronger, allergies disappearing or become less noticeable. People even report that their skin becomes smoother due to a more balanced omega 3 fatty acid to omega 6 ratio. You will usually notice a lot of these changes after just 30 days of a strict Paleo diet. Eating small amounts of grains can seriously wreak havoc in your body. Toxic foods you should avoid are soda, cookies, cornflakes, or anything with a high concentration of sugars such as HCFS (high concentration fructose syrup).

Can we cook Paleo meals at home?
Of course, it basically involves a lot of cooking the way our grandmothers used to do—no pre-packaged meals and no ready-made sauces. Most dishes have to be made from scratch, which can be time-consuming. It can also be quite challenging in Bangkok as raw ingredients can be hard to come by. For busier individuals we have a Paleo meal plan with four different dishes every day which can be delivered anywhere in Bangkok.
