Topgolf Megacity continues to up its food game with the launch of an all-new comfort food offering
PATIO’s all-day eatery launches a new menu
The weekend has come. What is there to do other than window-shopping in malls, burning off calories at the gym, or scrambling to book a popular restaurant or café in the middle of the city?
Outside the hustle and bustle, just behind Mega Bangna, is TopGolf Megacity, an entertainment complex featuring 102 golf bays and five restaurants. What’s better than enjoying a crunchy rosti, washing it down with a frosty beverage, and taking a swing at golf on a bright weekend?
TopGolf Megacity’s activities rotate every month, so there’s always going to be something to look forward to. Those here for golf will find that the experience here is pleasantly seamless. Strategically situated in the shade for all-day play—a smart move for sunny Bangkok—the movement sensors here enable anyone to go from ball to ball smoothly. Whether a beginner or a pro, a game here is going to be a sweet continuum of hit, look, hit, look, hit.
Recently, PATIO, one of the restaurants here, launched a new menu. Featuring Thai classics such as jok haeng moo, or dry congee with minced pork, and the Swiss classic rosti with sour cream, the all-day eatery’s new menu is inspired by comfort food. There’s comfort food for all—the Asian or Western brunchers, sweet tooths, and even health enthusiasts. In short, it’s a place where the whole family can be comfortable.
As mentioned before, Asian brunchers who need a bit of rice or lightness in their diet in the mornings can confidently rely on jok haeng moo. This dry congee has super soft, smooth texture that can hardly be found in normal congee shops. In fact, not a single piece of rice can be spotted in this perfect congee. Western brunch lovers should go for the rösti with sour cream; for those who know, rösti is a Swiss dish that consists mainly of potatoes, pushed flat like a pancake, and fried in a pan. PATIO’s version is unique; a bit thicker, and very, very crispy on the outside. The result is a mouthwatering, substantial bite with a satisfying crunch.
For all the traditional brunchers, the tartines, breakfast burritos, eggs benedict, and sausage and bacon all hit right. The croissants are warm and crunchy, the shrimps are fresh, and the burritos are satisfyingly cheesy. Of course, there is coffee. From none other than Bangkok’s most hip—and delicious—café now, Karo Coffee Roasters. The charcoal coconut, a commendable blend of Americano and fresh coconut juice, instantly takes away that after-meal sluggishness and readies one for a round of casual golf.
Health lovers need not worry, as PATIO also has a wide selection of low-carb dishes that are delightful, especially on a weekend morning. The cobb salad is extra-recommended, filled with organic cherry tomatoes, avocadoes, chicken, cheese, and boiled eggs. A simple combination that works every time. An even more refreshing choice is the smoked salmon platter, which comes with a slice of lemon and a very addictive garlic dip. Don’t miss this one!
Of course, PATIO’s got the sweet lovers out there covered too. The buckwheat banana waffle is going to blow away anyone who loves banana bread. The waffle tastes like soft, fragrant banana bread sandwiched with sweet bananas in the middle. A generous dollop of whipped cream, caramel sauce, and chocolate sauce on top completes the palate. Oh, to die for! For a more classic sweet dish, PATIO’s got kanom pung ping, the Thai version of toasted bread—a very well done one, at that—amply stuffed with orange, Thai tea-flavored sauce. In short, no one will go to golf hungry. Portions are very, very abundant, and prices extremely reasonable for the high quality of food.
Executive chef Daniel Bucher is the brains behind PATIO’s latest menu, which sources ingredients from local suppliers across Thailand—eggs from Hilltribe Organics in Chiang Rai, rice from Raitong Organics in Sisaket, and silky cheeses from Bangkok’s very own Homemade Cheese Co.
Worth noting is that Chef Daniel is not only the executive chef of PATIO, but its food sustainability manager. Under his leadership, PATIO has implemented a zero-waste policy, meaning leftover food goes to animal feed or compost.
After enjoying a good brunch—all day, any day—guests can enjoy a good game of golf at any of Topgolf Megacity’s 102 hitting bays spanning three expansive floors. With friendly instructors readily available, anyone can join, from a beginner to a professional. The bays next to PATIO are on the first floor, called The Puttyard. Fully equipped with movement detection technology, the game here feels intuitive and seamless.
For those interested in bringing friends or family, one bay provides for six golfers at the promotional price of 550++ THB. What’s even better is that guests can order food from PATIO or any of Topgolf Megacity’s five bars and restaurants. So grab yourself a patty melt, cold beer, and spend the day besting your friend’s score (or swinging wildly and missing). Indeed, a day well-spent.
And don’t forget the food bus! Yes, this is not just a food truck; it is a whole bus, specially built as a kitchen. Named BUSTED!, the food bus is parked in PATIO’s outdoor area and currently serves authentic Mexican tacos by star chefs Megan Leon and Gaby Espinosa Real. Hurry up, as the taco takeover is only until the end of August!
Another stop worth mentioning is the Topgolf Sports bar is an American-style sports bar on the second floor, with a huge, 550-inch screen and 15 additional HDTVs. Just perfect for a night out with friends drinking and cheering for a favorite sports team. What’s more, guests can switch their assigned screen as they like.
Those who are here for golf, though, can rest assured that they will be well served. Everyone from newbies to professionals, from 18 months to 88 years old (and up), can attend Topgolf Academy, where there are certified golfing coaches. The setting is friendly, with casual music and helpful staff. It doesn’t hurt that the food is great!
