Inside Shama Yen Akat, newly opened in late 2022, Brunch Paradiso serves big portions of cafe comfort food—with a special welcome for furry friends.

 

The chef lived and worked in Melbourne for a few years, so you’ll get a hint of the Melbourne cafe style here. Fare includes egg dishes like the Paradiso Brekkie (B370) with scrambled eggs, sourdough and brioche, roasted tomatoes, sauteed mushrooms, roasted butternut squash, sausage, thick-cut bacon, some greens, and their very own baked beans that are actually pretty tasty. For a more lunch-vibe dish, grab the spaghetti AOP with cumberland sausage (B250), and coffee starts at B75.

 

Shama Yen Akat offers a comfortable space for both long and short stays, so pet-friendly they’ll even set out a bed for your doggo. There are eight types of rooms ranging from a 34-sqm studio (B2,200 per night) to 115-sqm. Two-bedroom suite (B6,000 per night - however fully booked until Oct, 2023). Long-term stay rates are also available.

 

In the area, there are plenty of places to eat like French restaurant, Cagette Canteen and Deli and low-rise rooftop bar, Cactus. If French cuisine doesn’t suit your palette that day, head to Eats Payao for the best khanom jeen nam ngiaw (B180) ever and stay there when the restaurant slowly turns into a late-night party spot, Samphan Bar.

Other day-time activities include day-drinking by the pool at Blue Parrot and grabbing croissants from Amantee. In the evenings of Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, there’s a local market on the nearby military compound (you may actually be able to see it from your window at Shama), offering a diverse variety of local bites.
