It's really happening, people. Taco Bell Bangkok is set to add beef to its menu after fans endured a painful two-month wait. 

In posts made to Facebook and Instagram, the Thai franchise of the U.S. Tex-Mex chain teases that beef will finally be available to order from Apr 4.

We contacted Taco Bell for confirmation and were told "many more things are bound to happen"—which we took to mean, fingers crossed, bean and cheese burritos are on the way, too.

On the same day as the big beef reveal, Taco Bell will also open a second Bangkok branch (the brand's 500th international location), replacing Mos Burger on the ground floor of Siam Paragon. 

If you're just tuning in, here's a little on how beef-gate unfolded. After six months of building hype, Taco Bell first threw open its doors to long queues at MercuryVille mall on Jan 24. However, within hours Bangkok fans were raging on social media after discovering the chain would be using chicken and pork rather than beef in signature items like its Crunchwrap (B119) and the classic crunchy taco (B69).

With Taco Bell's official accounts inundated with comments from irate fans, the franchise's official line was that beef was left off the menu after "extensive market research."

Less than a week later, though, Thai franchise owner Chalermchai “Kueng” Mahagitsiri vowed to reinstate beef on the menu. “Taco Bell Thailand is currently in the process of selecting beef that meets our high standards. I will update everyone again soon,” Kueng wrote in a public Instagram post on Jan 28.

First opened by Glen Bell in 1962 in Downey, California, Taco Bell is known for its cheap tacos, quesadillas and nachos, and now has about 7,000 franchises across the U.S.
