For two nights only.

If dishes like ema datsi, sikkam paa and ezay mean anything to you, get yourself to Ari this Feb 22-23.

For two nights only, Mikkeller Ari will ditch its usual Thai-focused menu to offer Bangkokians are rare try of Bhutanese food and craft beer.

A collaboration with Bhutan's Namgay Artisanal Brewery, "Dine With The Dragon" will comprise an eight-course Bhutanese-family style dinner by chef Lane Lehman (head chef at the ultra-luxe Amankora in Thimphu), complete with beer pairing and welcome cocktail featuring Bhutanese whiskey K5.

Dishes to expect include the aforementioned sikkam paa, an air-dried pork curry with tomato, onion, radish and dried chili, and kakur thingye tshem, a pumpkin curry. The dishes will also include Bhutanese cheese.

With its population of roughly 800,000 people and tight management of tourism, the tiny, landlocked Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan is perhaps not the first place you would think of as a craft beer stronghold. Yet Dorji Gyeltshen’s Namgay Artisanal Brewery, perched overlooking Bhutan’s only international airport, is one of the names pushing the local craft brewing scene forward. The brewery’s roster currently includes six beers, such as Red Rice Lager and Dark Ale, as well as an apple cider.

The event is B1,400 per person for advance bookings, and 1,550 for walk-ins. For reservations, contact [email protected] or 02-115-1659.

Opened in late 2018, Mikkeller Ari puts more of a focus on Thai and Asia beers than its original sister bar in Ekkamai.

Ari Samphan Soi 1, 02-101-4962. Event bookings available for 5:30-9pm.
