Stretch yourself and run 2018 away

We all know the benefits that comes with running and having an active lifestyle, not to mention keeping to your 2018 resolution of staying fit (if you haven't started, there's still some time left). Here, we recommend some meaningful and interesting runs taking place throughout the rest of the year that'll help keep you moving towards your goal.

SAFRA Singapore Bay Run & Army Half Marathon 2018 (Aug 26)

One of the largest annual runs in Singapore organized by SAFRA and the Singapore Army, this is a run not just for SAF active servicemen and NSmen, but for anyone who will enjoy taking in views of the Marina Bay skyline and the city as you go about your route. There’re two categories to choose from, a competitive one with 21km and 10km options, and a leisurely 5km or 800m run to enjoy with your friends and family.

Harmony Fun Run 2018 (Sep 16)

As its name suggests, this newly launched running series intends to promote not just a healthy lifestyle, but inter-faith and racial harmony as well via a 5km fun run. The run will kick-off from Costa Lawn at Pasir Ris Park.

Pink Ribbon Walk 2018 (Oct 6)

This annual walk is back in support of breast cancer patients. Lend your support via two categories, a 3.5km walk or a 5km run—no matter which one you go for, remember to suit the theme and come dressed in pink. Plus, good news for dog owners; your furkids are also welcomed to run together with you.

HooGa + Run 2018 (Oct 6)

Here comes another inaugural run, this one aiming to instill happiness and pass on positive vibes. There’re two categories for you to choose from, a 5km fun run and a 10km competitive run. Do take part in a line-up of exciting programs afterwards, including a lucky draw contest with fabulous prizes such as tickets to Korean pop idol Hwang Chi Yeul's concert. The run kicks off and takes place at Punggol Waterway Park.

YOLO Run Singapore 2018 (Oct 13)

If you’re looking for a liberating (read: topless) run, this is the one for you. Back in its fourth edition at the West Lawn of Gardens by the Bay, participants are encouraged to run shirtless whether you're going for the 5km or 10km categories. Besides the run itself, there'll be post-race activity booths and food vendors to keep you entertained as well.

Great Eastern Women’s Run 2018 (Oct 14)

Southeast Asia’s largest all-women’s run is back this year at new location Singapore Sports Hub. In addition to 5km, 10km and 21.1km categories, there's also the super fun and cute 2km "mummy & me" run that was added last year. This year, they are also adding new short-distance runs, a 110m dash (for girls age 3-6) and a 110m sprint (for those age 13 and above).

ASICS Relay Singapore 2018 (Oct 20)

After traveling to four different countries in Asia, the large-scale relay is finally in Singapore for its final stop. To participate, you first form into groups of four and sign up for either the 42km or 21km categories in either male, female or mixed teams. The relay will take place at Sentosa’s Palawan Green. Winning teams get rewarded with free flights to the 2019 race held overseas, so all the more reason to train up.

Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2018 (Dec 8-9)

This marquee running event's 42km, 21km and Ekiden (long-distance relay) categories will take place on Sunday, while the shorter 10km, 5km and kid's dash categories will happen on Saturday. Kicking-off from the F1 Pit Building, the run will take you through the city, including Orchard Road, where you'll be able to gaze at the Christmas festive lights as you go about your route.

Bonus: Run for Hope 2019 (Feb 17)

Yes, we're still in 2018, but it’s never too early to plan. Run for Hope 2019, the annual non-competitive run with 3.5km and 10km categories, will be taking place at the OCBC Square, Singapore Sports Hub. There's a charity element to the run, which aims to raise awarness for and aid cancer research. The organizers will donate $5 per registration to the NCC Research Fund’s cancer research program, so you know you're doing good at the same time.
