Husband and wife team behind Fukuoka's Edomae-Zushi Nikaku heading to Bangkok
Cooking classes and omakase dinners from the powers behind a two-Michelin-star sushi restaurant.
Chef Setsuo Funabashi and his pastry-chef wife Kazumi Funabashi of Fukuoka's acclaimed Edomaezushi Nikaku are coming to Bangkok for a series of omakase dinners and MasterChef-esque workshops this June.
From Jun 26-Jul 1, the chefs will impart their knowledge at Central Embassy’s Issaya Cooking Studio.
For those who'd rather be catered for, chef Setsuo will present two exclusive omakase-style dinners with sake on Jun 26 and 29 from 7pm (B9,500), whereas those who want to try their hand at sushi-making can take a workshop on Jun 29 from 11am-2pm (B4,500).
If you're a dessert person, then pastry chef Kazumi will be hosting a Japanese sweets workshop on Jul 1 from 1-4pm (B4,500), complete with tasting sessions.
The second generation of chef-owners of Edomaezushi Nikaku took the helm in 2002 and helped make the 16-seat restaurant a highly sought-after reservation. In 2014, it became the only restaurant in Kitakyushu city, Fukuoka prefecture, to earn two stars in the Fukuoka/Saga edition of the Michelin Guide,
The restaurant's known for its traditional edomae-zushi made with sushi rice seasoned with akazu (a premium red vinegar) and seasonal ingredients largely sourced from the waters surrounding Fukuoka.
You can make reservations via email: [email protected] or [email protected] or check out the FB event page.
