Baan Nai

This Rama VI-style house serves equally aristocratic dishes that trace their roots to the original house’s owners, the Bunyaketu sisters. While the property has stayed in the family, the wooden house the sisters lived in has been replaced by an elegant two-story boutique hotel that looks like it has always been there. Surrounded by a slither of a courtyard, Baan Nai is equally charming indoors and out. The menu isn’t pedantic about its nods to tradition, covering royal cuisine alongside regional specialties—you can even order a pad Thai. But most dishes feature multiple dips, flowers, herbs and curries, like the Southern salad khao yum budu, which sees rice made black with the addition of charcoal surrounded by a dozen little piles of finely chopped herbs and condiments, from edible pink blossoms to diced string beans—a fresh and delicious summer dish.

La Creperie

Located deep into Sukhumvit Soi 39, this elegant home comes with a garden that offers a very chill vibe for a lazy day's grazing. Try both the savory and sweet crepes, such as the crepe with ham and cheese or crepe with banana caramel and fruits, which you can wash down with some Mariage Freres tea or a bottle of extra dry French cider.

Kay's Boutique Breakfast

The stylish K Maison boutique hotel’s sister cafe sits right across the road and dishes out big morning feasts with playful takes on breakfast classics. Take a seat at one of the cool marble tables and order up the King of Egg Benny (B260), which comprises poached egg, grilled tomatoes and bacon with truffle hollandaise sauce. Or go for the two-toned scrambled eggs (B170), which see the white and the yolk separated and spread atop ham and a crispy chunk of bread. Not into the egg thing? Go with the French toast, delicious either plain (B150), in Thai tea (B160) and matcha flavors (B170) or—the ultimate option—topped with banana, bacon and cashew nuts (B240).

Patissez

The original creator of the trending "freakshakes," this cafe from Canberra, Australia, serves up both overloaded drinks and Aussie-style cafe food. The photogenic shakescome in five different varieties: nutella pretzel, mint chocolate, banana caramel, Thai tea white chocolate (exclusive to Bangkok), and watermelon and berries. On top of that, you can get all-day brunchy dishes like smashed avocado on toast and the Freak Burger (double-patty Aussie beef burger packed with cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, house barbecue sauce, bacon jam on a brioche bun), all presented in a sun-drenched setting.

Phuket Town

This decade-old Southern Thai food institution recently moved from its tiny corner shop-house on Thonglor's main drag to an altogether more charming standalone house on Thonglor Soi 4. Decked out with hints of Phuket Old Town's Sino-Portuguese architecture and paintings, the larger venue features two dining rooms as well as a dedicated bar that shows they now take drinks more seriously. Flavorful Phuket recipes like fermented rice noodles with crab meat curry, shrimp paste relish and beef curry remain, joined by signature cocktails like Phuket Gangster, which sees tequila, hazelnut, orgeat and orange lime served in a paper bag with crackers.

Souffle and Me

Chef Thanunya “Gai” Kaikaew is the only female chef from the Iron Chef Thailand TV show. Her specialization lies in sweets, so it’s no surprise that desserts star at her restaurant. The lovely wooden house and garden her restaurant inhabits wouldn’t be packed out on weekends were it only for maple syrup souffles, though. Thanunya also has a solid savory menu with plenty of brunchy nods; and she is backed by impeccable service. We recommend the lobster souffle: the whole lobster’s charred notes, the eggwhite-only souffle and the umami bisque combine beautifully. Souffle and Me makes for a fun and reasonably-priced brunch destination where the decor and service are as adorable as the food.

Veganerie Concept

After debuting as a vegan dessert cafe, Veganerie rolled out this proper restaurant in 2016, serving savory dishes that go well beyond salads. Offerings include zucchini pasta with tomato sauce and vegan sausage, "pulled pork" burger made with mushrooms, and "chicken" massaman curry served with air-fried roti. Veganerie's signature desserts are all here, too, like the cashew nut paste-based cheese pies and waffles as well as smoothies. Bright and airy, this is just the space to while away an afternoon.

WWA

This secret brunch spot in the heart of Siam Square is well worth the trek up three flights of stairs. Occupying one corner of a fashion boutique of the same name, the unfinished-looking space epitomizes minimal loft style, with seating for just 20 people on a motley collection of sofas draped in black dust covers and flea market dining chairs. Though the one-page menu has much of the usual savory-meets-sweet comfort staples, the food here really is a cut above most brunch places in town. The berry cream cheese French toast, for example, gets the flavors just right, with subtly sweet toast and a thin layer of cream and mixed berry jam, while the maple nutmeg butter pancake is equally comforting, topped with a slice of pumpkin, Italian sausage, baked beans, a lava egg and a side of creamy pesto sauce.
