Hawkers from Tiong Bahru market are having a pop-up at The Clifford Pier
Why wait till the hawker centre reopens?
Tiong Bahru Market and Food Centre will be reopening in about a month’s time, but if you (like us) can’t wait for it to reopen sooner, here’s how you can have your fill of some of its hawker food.
For two weeks from Apr 30-May 14, The Clifford Pier at Fullerton Bay Hotel will play host to eight of Tiong Bahru’s esteemed hawkers, namely Tiong Bahru Jian Bo Shui Kueh, HarriAnns, Tiong Bahru Teochew Kueh, Kim Fa Fishball and Minced Pork Noodles, Kampong Carrot Cake, Tiong Bahru Tau Suan, Tiong Bahru Fish Ball and Tiong Bahru Lor Mee (no, sadly, not the one with shark meat).
It will be done buffet style, so you can go ahead and try a dish from every hawker for lunch ($39) or dinner ($59). Only five of the eight hawkers will be serving during lunch though, so if you want to have a taste of Kim Fa’s noodles, HarriAnns’s nyonya kuehs and Tiong Bahru Fishball’s springy fishballs, head over during dinner instead. There is also the option to try additional signature dishes from The Clifford Pier’s kitchen, such as the Hainanese chicken rice, laksa, char kway teow and wagyu beef rendang for an additional $10 each.
Hopefully, this is enough to help tide us over until the hawker centre completes its renovation works on May 19.
