A chance to help those in need—and it might be your only chance for a table at Sorn.
Starting this month and continuing through July, Bangkok Foodies has launched the Meals for Myanmar campaign, a project to help raise funds in the wake of the earthquake that shook Myanmar last month.

Restaurants around the city are donating tasting menus, buy-one-get-one deals, baskets and more, interested parties will bid, and the winner takes the prize. All proceeds from the event will go to SONNE, a registered NGO actively working in Myanmar.

Current participants feature some BK Magazine favorites, including Thailand’s only three star Michelin restaurant, Sorn, and bidding for here is one of your best spots to ever get a seat.

Other current participants include Jhol, Baan Tepa, 80/20, Gaa, Mia, Haoma, WanaYook, Akkee, Electric Sheep, Maison Dunand, Lahnyai, Soma, Burapa Eastern Thai Cuisine, and more will be joining. Tasting menu vouchers also include exclusive incentives like private kitchen tours, demos, workshops, and more.

Vouchers are also up for bidding, including a winery tour by GranMonte Vineyard, pro foodie video shooting from Turquoise Truck, a gourmet basket from VIVIN - Café Grocery Bistro, and more.

The project is being run by Samantha Proyrungtong of Bangkok Foodies and VIVIN - Café Grocery Bistro, who has a personal connection to Myanmar and is hoping this will help those in need.

Vouchers and tasting menus will be released progressively with separate deadlines, allowing participants to vendors to promote and bid over the course of the project.

The devastating earthquake left thousands dead and more without food or shelter just as the rainy season begins.

There are plans to extend the Meals for Myanmar program to Phuket, and also in the works is a Party for Myanmar event, to further support the cause, but the date and details have not been confirmed.
