Three of Europe’s biggest football clubs are coming to Singapore in July
They account for a total of nine Champions League titles.
It’s official, 2017 is going to be a massive year for football fans in Singapore. The National Stadium will host a leg of the International Champions Cup (ICC) featuring three giants of European football: Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Inter Milan. The tournament was officially announced at Mandarin Oriental, Singapore today with club legends Francesco Toldo (Inter Milan), Hasan Salihamidzic (Bayern Munich) and Tore Andre Flo (Chelsea) in attendance.
Taking place from Jul 25-29, the first Singapore edition of the round-robin tournament will consist of three matches: Chelsea vs Bayern Munich (Jul 25), Bayern Munich vs Inter Milan (Jul 27) and Chelsea vs Inter Milan (Jul 29). The first two contests will be repeats of recent Champions League finals (2012 and 2010 respectively). Tickets go on sale on Mar 30 via Sports Hub Tix with prices starting at $40 for adults and $25 for children.
Launched in 2013, the ICC is one of the world’s premier pre-season tournaments. Tournament legs have previously been hosted in cities across Australia, China, Europe and North America with the likes of Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester United and Real Madrid also participating. As part of the agreement between the tournament organizers and the Singapore Tourism Board, the ICC will be held here annually until 2020.
