While there are some great parties to look out for, this week’s mostly about art.

Singapore Art Week begins this week! Wind down after the weekend's shindigs this week and hit the galleries as a number of artists are holding their exhibition openings, and then be starstruck at the end of the week by PJ Harvey, who’ll be performing at the Esplanade.

EXHIBITION
If you enjoy scrutinizing, appreciating or collecting beautifully painted images on canvases, Art Apart Fair is showcasing work by about 100 artists from Europe and Asia, as well as private collections by three collectors, at their new home in Pan Pacific Orchard. Through Jan 11

THEATER
M1 Singapore Fringe Festival is back for its 13th edition. There’s been some controversy in the lead-up, with two shows not getting ratings due to “excessive nudity”. But you can still catch Alessandra Fel’s Under My Skin, Tan Liting’s Pretty Butch and a bunch of other envelope-pushing shows. Through Jan 15

EXHIBITION
Marvel's AVENGERS S.T.A.T.I.O.N. exhibition is on display at the Science Centre. Pretend you're a recruit at The Avengers headquarters and go on a behind-the-scenes journey into the lives of Captain America, Iron Man, The Hulk, Black Widow and Ant-Man. Through Mar 5

"Our Grandfather Road" by Sam Lo

EXHIBITION
You probably know Sam Lo a.k.a. Sticker Lady for her witty and subversive placements of stickers with text like "Anyhow paste kena fine" and "Press to time travel", as well as the spray-painted words "My grandfather road" on roads in the CBD. Take a look at some of her past and present works at Greetings from Singapore. Jan 10-31.

FESTIVAL
Part of Singapore Art Week, Contemporary Printmaking Festival will have live demonstrations, music performances and exhibition. Learn all about silkscreen, letterpress and Intaglio printing. But the highlight will definitely be an artists’ book exhibition showcasing works from 20 artists and printmakers. Jan 10-22

EXHIBITION
Also part of Singapore Art Week, Fantasy Islands is an exhibition, curated by Kin Chui and Mitha Budhyarto, comprising work seven artists from Indonesia and Singapore, looking at the manifold relations between Batam and Singapore. Jan 10-26

EXHIBITION
Visual artist Nicola Anthony works with local poet Marc Nair to explore the architecture of memory of three huge cities (London, Singapore and Yangon) through artworks that reflect (and sometimes embed) Nair's poems in an exhibition called Intersection. Jan 10-Feb 11

M1 Singapore Fringe Festival: Under My Skin by Alessandra Fel

HEALTH
Instead of having a mid-week drink, join an all-women, all-level Hatha Yoga class to get re-energized for the next two days before the weekends are up. Early registration and payment is required. Bring your own yoga mat, towel and water. Jan 11

THEATER
Part of the ongoing M1 Singapore Fringe Festival, Alessandra Fel’s Under My Skin explores the trials and tribulations of motherhood through personal anecdotes translated into a production about a relationship between a 65-year-old woman and her son. Jan 11-12

ART
This fifth edition of the Singapore Biennale, titled “Atlas of Mirrors” is showcasing 58 pieces and installations from 60 artists (10 of whom are Singaporean) and three art collectives. Through Feb 26

ART
Grab your selfie stick and head to Serangoon Road, where ArtWalk Little India begins today. The various stations around the neighborhood boast large-scale murals, storytelling sessions and other activities. The Pongal market and carnival is also ongoing at Campbell Lane and Hastings Road.

EXHIBITION
Art Stage Singapore is back for the seventh year. It will be showcasing 173 galleries from 30 countries. And for the first time, they are presenting The Collectors’ Stage, a collaboration with online retail portal The Artling, which will feature works from six leading Singapore-based collectors. TALK
The Art Week Conversations will be bringing together 12 speakers to discuss about the views of art market and buying and collecting from a Southeast Asian perspective over 3 talks. Jan 12-17

PARTY
King of the hill Kult Kafe will be hosting a special guest from Shanghai, vinyl selector, collector and founder of Groove Bunny Records, Endy Chen. He'll be on the decks for an all-vinyl set and putting some records on sale too. Jan 13

EXHIBITION
Prolific Burmese artist Htein Lin dives into his past as a political prisoner who was put behind bars for his pro-democracy beliefs at his exhibition, Recovering the Past. Jan 13-Mar 5

PARTY
Gillman Barracks’ Art after Dark gets the Art Week treatment. They’re launching Lock Route, Gillman Barracks’ public art showcase, as well as featuring resident artists from NTU CCA Singapore and Supermama’s exhibition “Design New Standard”. Jan 13

CONCERT
Passenger will be performing live for first time ever in Singapore, singing hits like “Somebody’s Love,” “Heart’s on Fire,” “The Wrong Direction” and “All the Little Lights.” Jan 13

CONCERT
PJ Harvey joins other big names as part of Esplanade's Mosaic Music Series, promoting her latest album, The Hope Six Demolition Project along with her 10-piece band. Jan 13

PARTY
After moving from Jiak Kim, Zouk has finally reopen its doors officially at Clarke Quay. They’re kicking off their official launch with the revered music producer Diplo, who’ll be dropping some heavy bass and bangin' tracks at the club’s new home. Jan 13

FILM
Hive’s rooftop Singapore Open Air Cinema Club is screening Little Miss Sunshine to kickstart the new year. Chairs are provided, but you can bring along mats and cushions as well. Be warned, though, that tickets are limited and sell out fast. Jan 13

Calling all Harry Potter fans—if you’re in withdrawal after reading Cursed Child and Fantastic Beats, time to ooh and aah over some Harry Potter stamps, prop replicas, toys and other memorabilia from private collectors all around the world at the Singapore Philatelic Museum. Through Jun 30
