It’s almost time to usher in 2017, and we’re gearing up for one massive celebration all along the Singapore River. Here’s why it’s the perfect place to party come New Year’s Eve.
Tantalizing food promos
To make sure you’ve got the energy to keep the festivities going long after the clock strikes 12, you need to start the evening with a hearty meal. For that, you can head to
Dallas where their three-course New Year’s Eve set menu ($45) features options like lobster bisque, marmalade and whiskey glazed turkey, and homemade apple pie. Meanwhile, Italian restaurant
Ricciotti will be serving a five-course degustation menu ($118) which includes steamed lobster salad, Parma ham ravioli and grilled beef tenderloin.
Great drink deals
New Year’s Eve is all about bubbly, and the bars along the Singapore River are well prepared. Boat Quay institution
BQ Bar has $88 bottles of GH Mumm Champagne to go with $55 buckets of Corona and $8 tequila shots.
Molly Malone’s will be offering a similar deal—$88 bottles of GH Mumm Champagne with bottled beers going for $6.80. Over at
Mogambo’s countdown party, you can look forward to getting your second bottle of Champagne at half price in addition to a free glass of bubbly at midnight. Finally, Clarke Quay favorite
McGettigan’s will have bottles of Moët & Chandon Champagne and Grey Goose vodka at $200 each with a combo of the two available for $300. You can also get two bottles of Grey Goose there for $350.
Wild parties
Hero's
The New Year’s Eve celebrations along the Singapore River will revolve around Clarke Quay’s Fountain Square where the
Supernova Countdown Party kicks off at 9:30pm. Expect live music from 53A, appearances from the Muttons in the Morning team and performances from B-boys and fly girls with a DJ spinning tunes from a larger-than-life boombox. Hero’s has a countdown party with live music from 10pm and a free glass of bubbly at midnight.
Great vantage points
Southbridge
Of course, the main event of any New Year’s Eve is always the fireworks display and the Singapore River area has plenty of vantage points to take in the view of the pyrotechnics over Marina Bay. From Merlion Park to Esplanade Park there are lots of choice spots at the mouth of the river. Better yet—you can head up to rooftop establishment
Southbridge for a commanding view of the whole city.
