Singapore’s annual alternative music festival is back
Punk, electronic, pop, folk, indie rock and everything in between.
From Jun 24-26, the Baybeats Festival, an event that's all about alternative music mayhem, is happening at the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, with 36 performances by veteran and new artists from Singapore and the region.
Catch groundbreaking tunes across genres from local music producer Mitch Advent, folk singer-songwriter Nicholas Chim, synthpop siblings from Johor, Juno and Hanna, and electro-group Canvas Conversations. Punk rock is revived with the likes of Australia’s The Dirt Radicals, returning after 14 years since appearing in the first Baybeats in 2002, and Indonesian band D’JENKS as they take on reggae with a punk rock twist.
There are also performances by the final eight local bands from the Baybeats Budding Bands program such as electro-synthpop group Disco Hues and alternative rock band Tell Lie Vision. For the full lineup, see here.
If you’re a bedroom singer or band, and you’ve got at least 3 original songs, you may get your big break at the Open Stage. Registration for the Open Stage starts Jun 10.
