Bangkok bands to honor Prince with three-hour tribute concert
The deeply funky spirit of Prince lives on in Chinatown.
It's been almost a month since the musical legend Prince passed away, but the tribute acts are just getting warmed up.
Since its original tribute night on Apr 22, Soulbar's resident bands have had a chance to hit the rehearsal studio and refine their act.
This May 18, the Charoenkrung bar hosts what it's calling "Prince is A Live: The Ultimate Tribute to Prince," when resident bands The Lowdowns, Mother Funky, Supergoods, Rydsma and Lows will perform some of Prince's greatest hits over three hours.
We've been given a sneak peek of the set list and fans can expect all-time hits like "1999," "Head," "Do Me Baby," "Musicology" and, of course, "Purple Rain."
Tickets are B300 (includes a free Vedett half pint). Doors open at 7pm and the concert starts at 8:30pm.
For those still grieving, there's also a rooftop screening of Purple Rain happening in Bangkok next week.
Here's a taste of what to expect on the night:
