BK Weekend: What's on in Bangkok this May 12-15
A busy night on Charoenkrung Road, the launch of Bangkok's newest rock venue and all this weekend's best events.
The Japanese DJ and producer known for his debut single "Tears", a track considered one of the most important in house music, takes over the Bangkok stage at one of the city's latest night clubs. Support from DJ Krit Morton.

A night of improvised live loop music from cellist Saowakhon Muangkluan, electric guitarist Kota Taki and jazz bassist Kasemsamai Wongchayasilp, taking place in a trendy art space.

This two-day music festival features of the city's most popular bands and artists including Stamp, Slot Machine, Potato and Da Endorphine, who'll be joined by international guest DJs like Danny Avila and Jaggs. Away from the music, there also promises to be plenty of fun interactive games such as Glow Pool, Lazer Maze and Cage Football.

It's a busy night in Soi Nana (Charoenkrung Road) as Choy Why hosts the book launch of American journalist Philip Heijmans's book capturing the historic buildings of Rangoon at a time they are in danger of disappearing forever. Also taking place the same night, 23 Bar & Gallery celebrates One Year in Chinatown and artist Justin Mills hosts an open studio.

A pool party to raise funds for the Freeland Foundation, an organization that helps protect Thailand’s endangered wildlife & critical ecosystems, featuring music from DJs Alex Fischer, Tek Harrington, Scott Hess and more. Dress code is "Flower Power".

Maggie Choo’s is better than anyone at bringing in jazz artists you should know but don’t. This week features French pianist Baptiste Trotignon and Argentinian percussionist Minino Garay, who together turn out an infectious blend of improvised Euro-Latin jazz.
The Bangkok Symphony Orchestra organizes this two piano recital by the three-time Grammy award-winning Russian pianist and conductor and his son Vovka. They’ll be performing masterpieces from the romantic age, including Rachmaninov’s Symhonic Dance, Ravel’s Rhapsodie Espagnole, Smetana’s The Moldau and Glinka’s Valse-Fantasie. The annual documentary festival dedicated to screening architecture, design and art films hosts a special screening in remembrance of the late iconic female architect who passed away in March. The film follows the life and work of the Pritzker Prize-winning architect and her journey to success.

In celebration of International Day Against Homophobia Biphobia and Transphobia, QueerMango hosts a night to raise funds for Love Galaya, an association which helps empowering lesbian, bisexual, trans and queer women in Thailand. The night promises delicious Mexican food from Tacos and Salsa, a movie screening of the 2011 film A Safe Place for the Wild and plenty of music from DJs Chorn and Sen Lek Naam.
