Hint: It involves beer—some of it free.

[Sponsored] St. Patrick’s Day may only officially be on March 17, but in Singapore, it is a month long celebration of fun and festivities. From March 1-20, Guinness’s St. Patrick’s Festival will involve bars and live music venues around the island. Here are some highlights.
What’s St. Patrick’s Day without a pint or two? Some of your favorite bars are rolling out special deals on Guinness Draught. On Mar 12, enjoy one-for-one Guinness amid Dempsey Hill’s leafy surrounds at live music bar Unplugged Singapore. Nassim Hill also has the same deal, except all month long. Timbre @ The Substation is doing a two-for-$25 deal for Mar 17-19, and The New Harbour Cafe tops that with two draft pints at $17.59 on Mar 17. Guinness is partnering with over 50 bars island wide to give away a whopping 20,000 pints on a first-come, first-serve basis to anyone who registers via SMS. All you have to do is send an SMS involving your NAME<space>NRIC to 8151 5555 to get your voucher. Here’s hoping you have the luck of the Irish. [Update: All 20,000 pints are now spoken for. Don't forget to redeem your free beer by Mar 20.]
The city will naturally be awash with Irish-themed parties, with lots of live music and dancing. Don’t miss the KPO St. Patrick’s Day Party on Mar 17, 6pm onwards, with DJ Funkman spinning from 9pm onwards. If traditional music is more your thing, Clarke Quay’s McGettigan’s is bringing in Singapore’s biggest Celtic band—yes there is such a thing—Gan Ainm every day from Mar 17-19. (Bonus: they’re doing $10 Guinness, too, and other deals on food). Irish institution Muddy Murphy’s will gear up for its 20th anniversary with a rocking all-day party with 20 Years of Craic on Mar 17, with live music by The Smashing Clovers.
After Mar 17, if you’re still in the mood to party like the Irish, the annual St. Patrick’s Day Street Festival (Mar 19-20) over on Circular Road is also unmissable, with two days of games, live music and performances across two stages and a giant riverside parade on Sunday afternoon. The meeting point is Raffles Landing Site at 2:30pm.
