Lady Brett to open on Thonglor with Opposite's Jess Barnes
Until then, you can still catch his food at two ongoing pop-up restaurants.
When Jess Barnes vacates the kitchen at Suan Phlu’s Small’s bar, where the former chef of Opposite Mess Hall is currently holding his latest in a line of pop-ups (ends Jan 14), he’ll join forces with possibly this city’s most indomitable group of restaurants and bars: Sapparot.
They’re the guys behind Lady Brett, UNCLE and the multiplying leagues of Rocket Coffeebar’s spreading across Bangkok—a highly polished hospitality operation that stands in contrast to Barnes’s glory days in the makeshift dining room of OMH with its kitchen-slash-bar and constantly shifting menu .
Barnes joins the team as executive chef of the soon-to-open second branch of Lady Brett on Thonglor (next door to Mellow), set to welcome the public around the first week of February. The menu, says Sapparot group partner Jared O’Brien, will stick to the same barbecue focus as the original Sathorn branch, with Barnes to add his own dishes, roughly one fifth of the menu, that will be available at both restaurants.
The new Lady Brett is part of Sapparot’s expansion into Thonglor along with a second addition of UNCLE cocktail lounge, a Rocket takeaway counter and the management rights of upcoming new Mexican restaurant Touche Hombre.
Until Lady Brett opens, you can also catch Barnes’s food at the ongoing Opposite pop-up at Maggie Choo’s, which his wife Sasithon Wattanasin will run indefinitely.
