There's quite a lot to do this week, with lots of events at the Singapore Writers Festival. And don't forget that gritty dystopian play A Clockwork Orange is on (with a cast of shirtless men), while music lovers can catch The Vaccines live. Here are more ideas:

Mon, Nov 2

ART
The Expressions: SG50 exhibition by Lakshmi Mohanbabu involves portraits of those who have "shaped the country" but gets an interesting and unusal slant through the use of Chinese opera-style red and black color palette. 

FLEA MARKET
The Nuisance Underground @ SingJazz Club is back with live musicians and art merch. Names include super indie acts like Victoria Street and Subsonic Eye. Don't forget to have a cocktail at Fresh! next door afterwards!

WORKSHOP
Check out this Japanese Wood Block printing workshop for beginners and learn about this traditional technique.

LITERARY
Spoken word collective Sekaliwags are performing at Xpowerdreams: Wake Up Your Idea, which imagines four possible futures for Singapore.

SHOW
Cirque du Soleil's performance of Totem is underway; there will be acrobatic acts and some death-defying feats.

Wed, Nov 4

CONCERT
London-based hipster act The Vaccines is in town with hits like "If You Wanna" and "Teenage Icon."

MUSICAL
Ghost: The Musical
opens today. Patrick Swayze, RIP.

THEATER
Hailed as one of the books to read before you die, A Clockwork Orange brings Anthony Burgess' play to life with an all-male cast.

NETWORKING

FILM
The 19th German Film Festival opens today. It involves an eight-film showcase to the director Rainer Werner Fassbender, alongside newer films.

THEATER
Written by granddaddy of Singaporean theater Kuo Pao Kun, The Spirits Play is a Japan-Hong Kong co-production involving five spirits who recall their suffering during WWII.

MUSIC
Local indie musians Ginette Chittick and Jinmart (who have openeed for Bloc Party and the Kaiser Chiefs) will be at Pops of the Top at OverEasy.

ART
Benny Ong's Art Day Out has the local designer from The Ong label showcasing pop art inspired prints that explore the boundaries between art and design.

DJ GIGS
French DJ Darius will be at The Black Swan. There may be Daft Punk-inspired beats at this set.

LITERARY
Local writers collaborate with local musicians in Dimensions and Demons to combine music into their work. Expect Darren Shiau, Stephanie Ye amd R!ot in Magenta to make an appearance at this SWF event.

EAT
$100 Gourmet returns Two Michelin-starred chef Rolf Fliegauf and Nicky Ng will be at Mitzo, while Chef Fliegauf makes another appearance at The Waterfall with Marco de Vincentis. It's good to make a reservation if you haven't already.

LITERARY
In this highlight of the Singapore Writers Festival, local writers of all genres do a 12-hour monster show, What I Love About You Is Your Attitude Problem, taking place overnight at the various rooms of The Arts HouseWordsmiths can catch Cyril Wong and Joel Tan, while mainstream peeps can look out for Oon Shu An.

FLEA MARKET
The indie Maad Pyjamas flea market has lots of local artists and craftsmen hawking their wares. The Organization of Illustrators Council will draw portraits.

WORKSHOP
