Thailand's version of Coachella unveils preliminary lineup
After months of speculation, the cat is out of the bag.
Wonderfruit festival, likened to Thailand's version of Coachella, has announced the phase 1 lineup for its second edition, set to take place Dec 17-20.
In a stated effort to shed its "music festival" reputation, the event's initial lineup of performers is arguably upstaged by more extra-curricular announcements.
Still, festival-goers can expect live performances by The Submotion Orchestra, Howie B, Dapayk Solo, The Faint, Desktop Error, Mahajamreon and Polycat, while the highlight act is experimental electronic artist Jon Hopkins x Chris Levine presenting the iy_project. More than 30 acts are said to be announced in the coming months.
Other highlights include Duangrit Bunnag's so-called The Pavilion, which is expected to be a botanical garden. The food lineup, too, is more extravagant than last year's, with those confirmed including an event called Farm to Feasts by Asia's No. 1 Restaurant Gaggan and pop-ups by some of Bangkok's finest, like the hip Knock BKK, Rocket and Peppina.
Still to be announced are all the wellness activities, talks and workshops set to take place over the four days, as the festival sharpens its focus on healthy-living, sustainability and social responsibility.
For those that haven't got earlybird tickets, the official website is now live, offering luxury camping options like last year. There are also more accommodating ticket options for adults, teens and families, with full passes and weekend passes available.
