The Rio 2016 Olympics kick off this week (Aug 5-21), but owing to a 10-hour time difference, if you want to catch any of the action here in Bangkok you'll need to find a bar that opens ridiculously early in the morning (or super-late at night). The opening ceremony, for example, starts at 8pm in Brazil on Fri, Aug 5, which is 6am Bangkok time on Sat, Aug 6. We've done some snooping—here's where to head to catch most of the events.

Note: All venues stay open late, but it's a wise idea to drop them a line if your event is at a particularly awkward time.

The Sportsman Sportsbar

This bar is known for screening live American sports, which often calls for super-early starts. With 26 LED TVs and nine big projectors spread across two floors, the ability to show three sporting events at once, and the capacity to hold up to 800 people, The Sportsman might be your best bet for catching all the action in Rio de Janeiro.
Sukhumvit Soi 13, 02-168-7241. Open 7am-late

The Drunken Leprechaun

You'll find several TVs at the bar, but the big projector in the back garden is the real drawcard. They'll be offering some South American food and drink deals throughout the games, too.
Sukhumvit Soi 15, 02-309-3255. Open 10am-late (may open earlier for bigger events—contact them)

The Clubhouse Sports Bar & Grill

Two floors, two projectors, 14 TVs and a private area to boot. Contact them on their Facebook to make sure they're open for your favorite sport or not. The people at The Clubhouse are big supporters of the MMA scene in Bangkok, so you can expect to see most—if not all—the boxing here.
Sukhumvit Soi 23, 02-664-1376. Open 9am (or earlier for big events)-late

Tenderloins Steak House & Sports Bar

With proper food and a cozy living room area, Tenderloins is a little like watching the Olympics at home. If you—and at least  9 of your friends—want to watch any of the late-night action, you can let them know in advance and book a table.
Sukhumvit Soi 33, 02-258-4529. Open 10am-late
