Italian bartender Francesco Moretti has a few tricks up his sleeve.

Sathorn’s fashionable rooftop bar Vogue Lounge has welcomed a new bartender: much-traveled Italian Francesco Moretti.

Moretti started his training at Michelin-starred chef Jean-Claude Brugel's Sea Lounge in Monaco when he was 18, and has been mixing drinks all over Europe, America and Asia ever since.

His Asian adventures include stints are Shanghai's long-established Bar Rouge and VOL, where he served as bar manager.

Now you will find Moretti mixing cocktails while juggling bottles amid Vogue Lounge's swanky, plum leather confines. Said to be inspired by his love for people, travel and art, his signature cocktails will be found on Vogue Lounge’s new drinks menu starting from October, but in the meantime you can ask him to mix something to match your mood.

On our recent visit, the fun-loving bartender made us a Rosemary New York Sour (bourbon, lime juice, rosemary syrup, egg white, chocolate bitter, topped up with red wine and garnished with burnt rosemary), which involved an exciting little fire show.

Moretti's appointment follows the departure of popular former barman Hideyuki Saito, who's set to open his own bar on Thonglor in September.
