Rogerio Igarashi Vaz of Bar Trench in Tokyo—number 25 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars awards this year—will be mixing drinks at Soi Convent’s Vesper tonight (Aug 16), 8-11pm.

 

If you feel Vaz kind of looks familiar but you’re not sure where you’ve seen him, it may be because he and Bar Trench featured in the Netflix documentary “Midnight Asia” in the Tokyo episode.

 

Bar Trench is known for its small—23sqm to be exact—intimate space that has been serving drinks with top-notch Japanese hospitality for the past 12 years. The signature Trench 75 (a twist on the classic cocktail French 75 that dates back to WWI) replaces champagne with sparkling sake, and the drink that stays on the menu regardless of how many new items the bar creates. If you’re lucky, maybe you can try it tonight.

 

The event tonight is to kick start the Thailand Cocktail Festival.
