To those in the know, Beam has been open for a few weeks now—part of a broader move to revivify and relaunch 72 Courtyard as Thonglor’s nightlife go-to. They held a “Back to Beam” party in November and have been quietly bringing in acts to kickstart the venue. Now, they’re done being quiet and Beam is officially back.
This weekend, starting Thursday, Beam will be kicking off its opening weekend with a show from Helena Hauff on Thursday, but the big night to be in the house will be on Saturday, when the club will be bringing in headliner Palms Trax along with Mumsfilibaba and Transport.
So, what can you expect from the new venue? Well, Beam is now and has always been about the music, so they’ve gone with a custom TPI Totem sound system and lighting inspired by American artist James Turrell, with colored blocks changing above your head. The design in the new space is a little bit minimalist, a little bit industrial, and a no-nonsense party space.
But the new space is coming with some upgrades, namely Beam Bar just one door over from the main club, and Katsu, a sister club behind the venue's main doors. On opening night, Beam Bar will be taking over the bar.
Katsu, which is a whole new brand for the nightlife gurus, will be a lounge area boasting a youthful feel and tunes pumped out of the VOID Acoustics sound system from the previous Beam. Along with will be doling out tunes and drinks like the Applemint Fizz and rummy Ruby Ruby, the go-to drink on the night will be their signature boozy slushies, with the likes of Space Grape and Rise and Beam.
This is all big news as more spots, like the recently opened
