Since its inception in 2011, Drinks International's annual World's 50 Best Bars list has been noticeably short on representatives from Asia. But that looks to be changing with this year's launch of the Asia's 50 Best Bars list.

Details are still a little hazy, but what we do know is the full ranked list will be released to the public on Mar 31. In the meantime, World's 50 Best Bars editor Hamish Smith has been busy on social media (see below) alerting bars across Asia if they have made the cut.  

And from our snooping around on Facebook, we've been able to deduce that at least six Bangkok bars have placed in the 50, namely hip gin bar Teens of Thailand, cocktail institution Hyde & Seek, reborn jazz establishment Bamboo Bar, serious drinking haunt Vesper, new speakeasy Q&A and Chinoiserie undergound hide-out Maggie Choo’s.
