Going bar-hopping in the one of the hippest Chinatown alleys now needs documentation to prove you’re hardened against COVID.
To make the Soi Nana community a “COVID-free bar area,” eight venues there announced this afternoon that, amid Omicron’s spread in Bangkok and other provinces, folks must show proof of full vaccination – and it must be recent. That means two jabs or more (unless you got Johnsoned) in the past three months, or evidence of recovery from the disease in the past months.
Patrons without such documents, fear not, the bar partners have setup an antigen testing site at the entrance to the soi. Then, take your negative results and enter the premises to party!
New Year’s revels are a likely factor in today’s 26% surge in new cases. Over on Khaosan Road, nightlife venues face closures after an outbreak of COVID-19 among party-goers there this past weekend.
