Clarke Quay is throwing a block party for this year’s NYE countdown
Filled with literal blocks you can play with
How many block parties were thrown in Singapore this year? We’ve lost count. But hey, that’s a good thing, to be seeing some of Singapore’s streets continually turn into pop-up gatherings filled with music, food, drink, and all the good stuff.
It’s great then to have Clarke Quay deciding to throw the mother of all block parties on the last day of the year to ring in 2019, and by building actual block structures (it’s so cheeky, we know) at the central Fountain Square no less, making it the blockiest block party in town. These are massive blocks, big enough to interlock and form the main stage as well as various play zones you can enter.
There will be huge blocks fabricated to represent the four Clarke Quay enclaves, a pedal-powered LED wall that you illuminate with your own two feet while on a bike, roving dancers dressed as toy soldiers, plus a parade of towering unicorn stilt walkers too, to complete the whole festival experience.
Up on stage, live bands, DJs and game hosts will keep things upbeat as the revelry goes on till late, with everyone bracing themselves for the ultimate moment at midnight, that will be marked with a countdown and song of Auld Lang Syne. Classic.
Clarke Quay’s New Year’s Eve Countdown Block Party takes place Dec 31 from 9pm-late at the central Fountain Square. Admission is free.
