Next weekend marks the soft opening of Charoenkrung's ambitious new art complex, Warehouse 30

Originally slated to launch in May, the project transforms a 4,000-sq-meter space of abandoned World War 2-era warehouses in Charoenkrung Soi 30 into a complex of stores, galleries and other creative endeavours.

The Open House event on Jul 22 will see the gates thrown open to the public for the first time from 10am, with a range of workshops and acitivities running from 2-8pm.

Alongside a mini-market, there will be yoga, Latin fitness and flamenco demonstrations, massage and self-care workshops by Erb and Universal Healing, and seminars focuses on mindful cooking, farm-to-table dining and raw juice.

There'll be live jazz from Pearl Rapeeporn, plus an open-air screening of the documentary How to Make a Book with Steidl co-hosted by Documentary Club and Candide Books. All 70 seats in the theater are already booked-out, but you can still rock up and watch the show if you're happy to stand.

Warehouse 30 is the brainchild of Duangrit Bunnag, one of the original founders of TCDC and the country’s most famous architect, who's taking a similar approach to what he did with the Jam Factory across the river to forge a creative hub comprising cafes, shops, co-working space and screening room. The opening of Warehouse 30 follows that of Chang Chui, another creative megaproject on the Thonburi side of the river, and the relocation of TCDC to Charoenkrung.
