Through Apr 27, trending names in mixology, fashion and food will take to temporary shacks at The EM District World's Pop-up Beach. We checked it out. Here’s what to expect.

1. Take a Selfie

Haven’t given up on outdoor living despite the rising temperatures? Neither has The EM District, whose ground-floor outdoor space, a long terrace stretching from the BTS to a 40-meter-high vertical garden and waterfall, has just been transformed into a beach-themed fair. The decor by b|u|g studio sees a jumble of wooden beach shacks in white-and-blue or red stripes turned into open-air bars and shops—so Miami! It all lasts 49 days, and every week, the tenants get replaced by fresh faces.

2. Sip a Cocktail

The World’s Pop-up Beach closes at 10pm, along with the rest of the mall. But given the weekend DJ and mixology lineups, you may still want to knock back a couple sundowners here to get things started on Fri-Sun. Week 1 (Mar 10-16) was French Riviera, which kicked off with a one-day, pop-up Vogue Lounge, where you could sip Moët & Chandon while chugging a Belon Oyster to the tunes of the Perrier Jazz Band, Atom Chanagun and French pop by Blue Randome. Week 2 (Mar 17-23) was Ipanema, with The Parkinson on stage. This week (Mar 24-30) is Bondi, with live music from Kingkong and the Chum and Jenny & The Scallywags, surf experiences courtesy of Surfset, live painting by Sahredtoy, a light installation by Kor Bor Vor and more music from DJs SuperSonic and Ben. And in the weeks that follow, you’ve got plenty more bands (Never Ending Summer), DJs (Studio Lam, Badmotel) and mixologists to look forward to.

3. Nibble!

If you can’t deal with the crowds over at The Commons, World’s Pop-up Beach could just tide you over. The weekly lineup is packed with familiar names like sausage-maker extraordinaire Sloane’s, master of breads Conkey’s, micro-brewery Chalawan, and beloved Mexican kitchen La Monita. Since there are eight food spots to fill each week, there are also plenty of less obvious names we’re excited to check out, like Shroom Garden, Minnie I-Scream and Guss Damn Good. This week, check out The Australian Pub & BBQ's Bondi Burger (B250), 1 of a Kind's homemade crispy chips with spicy pork/beef bolognese (B180), Pu Pen Pu's crab bun (B190), Kai New Zealand's NZ spring lamb chops (B210) or Butterscotch's Sea Breeze Parfait (B145).

4. Gear Up for the Summer

If you’re headed to an actual beach—and have some cash to blow—The World's Pop-up Beach has simplified your shopping expedition with what looks like hotel boutiques worthy of an Aman or Six Senses. The well-curated selection is all designer sunglasses, impeccable canvas shoes and crisp Panama hats. We’re particularly partial to the Calvin Klein swimwear and colorful Issue tote bag to take your towel and sunscreen down to la playa. Added bonus: some of this stuff is on sale.

5. Play Around

Grown-ups are meant to play chess, mini ping pong or get their face mapped onto a giant projection covering the whole side of Emporium and EmQuartier. But we’re much more impressed with the kids’ Summer Beach Camp (5/F), which comes complete with a very real "Rope Course Adventure" and a virtual, augmented-reality sandbox where you—well, your niece—will get to sculpt landscapes with her bare hands.
