These photos of empty Bangkok are surreal
This is what Bangkok looks like under lockdown.
Bangkok is a little over a week into a sort of, kind of, not-really-a-lockdown lockdown and just a few days into a national state of emergency. Unlike other recent states of emergency, people seem to be heeding the advice of the authorities for once and staying at home, or at least remaining a safe distance from one another when they venture outdoors. This is good. But this is also spooky.
These photos—captured from a safe distance by BK’s talented, mask-wearing and currently bored-out-of-his-mind photographer, Poonsawat “Toh” Suttama—capture Bangkok at this extremely weird moment in time.
And if you wondered how all those food delivery drivers are dealing with the crisis, here’s your answer.
